The Gingham Dress

From Miu Miu to the tablecloth at your local pizzeria, gingham sure does get around!
It’s super classic and almost always appropriate (did you know Brigitte Bardot got married in a gingham dress?) but if done wrong you are at risk of looking like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. Not the look I’m going for this summer…
With that in mind, I try to steer away from gingham in “cutesy” shapes. No frills, no puff sleeves, no heart-shaped necklines please! It looks best when cut in sleek, sophisticated shapes like this one from Solid and Striped. What do you think? Modern or passé?

I love gingham, I have two dresses from Zara that I love, this one is very nice too and accessorized very well. I should try a green bag with mine.
I love it. The bigger the check, the better. Too small seems too twee. Red is OK, but blue or gray are better (less Italian restaurant table-cloth-looking).
Cool and comfortable for summer.
Did you see Kate Middleton’s red gingham dress a few months ago?
The Vichy print have alway been in fashion…it’s always working as a fresh and natural style,,,,there are some prints like dots and Vichy that are always in fashion and always commercial…..

I think gingham can look so fresh and crisp especially on hot summer days when everyone looks weighed down and sluggish with humidity. :) It reminds me of happy and carefree summer days. The Lisa Marie Fernandez gingham shirt dress is gorgeous! xo
I love the cute gingham dresses and I don’t mind looking like Dorothy at all, she was always my favourite anyway! x

There is something about the gingham that can feel so crisp, relaxed and fresh!
Love it with the green tote.

I love a true blue gingham dress partnered with something sharper like a mule. There is something sweet about a down on the farm look with a city slicker edge.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of gingham when I was approaching prints (on budget,, that is on sale now) this summer though I’m a Huge fan of it! http://www.fashionparadoxes.com/2016/06/17/prints-for-the-sake-of-summer/ Buuuutttt The slides man! THE SLIDES! Did I mention how much I love slides or how much I wear them on daily basics? I have a metallic baby blue Birks pair, but that Scholl one is on my target now!
Superbe cette photo, la robe est juste sublime !
