That Boy’s Bomber
9 years ago by
Japanese silk bombers are da’ bomb again…. especially on the mens runways.
But I’m into it – I’ve always had a soft spot for the vintage iconic bomber jacket. Remember when Isabel Marant did them? Embroidered tigers and flowers straddling the center zipper… well, to say it was a thing is an understatement.
Sort of a smoking jacket meets sport fan who loves intricate embroidery – the mens silk bomber is all over the Spring 2016 runways, and I am personally hoping to get my hands on one…. even if that means a bit of groping of some unassuming dude wearing one. WHAT!?
Or, I could do a bit of vintage shopping and likely find something more obscure, but remember Gillian in her mens Prada bomber last summer? She looked so cool! The perfect throw on for breezy summer nights.

I love them – the perfect cover-up in any season, for any occasion! It’s like wearing a zip-up silk kimono.
There are five in my wardrobe that I wear consistently, including an Isabel Marant one I found last year at a second-hand shop in brilliant condition, for an even more brilliant price (it’s quilted so it’s a winter weight one for me).
The remainder are all long and oversized, very lightweight, unlined silk ones that are striped, or camo, safari, and one like a skyfull of stars dropped onto my bomber.
Love love love souvenir jackets like that Isabel Marant one. Got mine here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/238509634/july-4th-sale-mens-vintage-satin?ref=shop_home_active_1
Last I checked they have a few left!
I love these bombers and I like those scarves, too. They look more like a female garment, most of all the pink one. Sometimes I wonder is designers think about real men or just about young models and Pharrell! :)
I had baby blue, navy and pink for my roller skating saturdays when I was a tweenster… Oh the 70’s and 80’s…
And it’s totally back this season…Gucci anyone? lol great piece!!
