Lips don’t like winter. The wind! The chill! It’s that time of year when, suddenly, a chapstick becomes a handbag essential.
Recently, we were all talking in the Studio about how dry and sore our lips were (it was a super cold and windy day here in New York), and the best remedies we know. So, there’s countless chapsticks and balms out there that will definitely help. But there are other ways to show your lips love, too.
Exfoliating is the best way to combat chapped lips. The oldest trick is the toothbrush — using a spare, brush it on dry lips in a circular motion. Voila! Dead, dry skin is gone! Or, you can always use a damp facecloth to gently wipe the flakes away. Recently, we’ve been seeing some exfoliants specifically designed for the lips. There is a need out there (why was it so hard to find lip exoliants before?)!! They’ll be the most sensitive towards the needs of your lips when they’re doing it especially tough.
The lip scrub, Sara Happ.
This lip scrub smells delicious! Do you all have the same problem with lip balms? The more you put on to counteract dry lips the more your lips seem to dry out and peel?

Bisous!

try the lush lip scrub – i have the mint kind and i love it. i imagine you could easily make a homemade alternative too! it really makes such a difference, i like to do it at the end of my shower when my lips are warmed up, then apply a heavy balm when i’m done and go to sleep!
Coconut oil and granulated sugar is my homemade remedy- works like a charm!
I need that right now. My lips currently are in the process of renewing :P

I was just saying how I need something like this

I really want to try this one, but am sticking as you said to my toothbrush, my lips are so dry!!

Lip scrubs are great!! I strongly recommend that after you do the lip scrub, you should put on some Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream! It is filled with fatty acids so it literally heals chapped lips. It’s basically a lotion for your lips, and it sinks right in. I use it and I love it! :)
