The curse of the dying phone battery.
My phone dies all the time. Sure, it is probably because I am constantly trying to pass level 64 of Two Dots (where I have been stuck for OVER A MONTH), and maybe I refresh my Instagram every 45 seconds but I’m convinced my phone battery dies more often than all the other phone batteries. I’ve tried all of the tricks (taking down screen brightness, closing out of apps, turing off notifications, etc) but I still can’t get through a full day without needing to plug it in.
I try to remember to carry around an extra battery, but I usually forget to charge that battery. And I’m cautious about bringing my charger with me because I’m likely to leave it behind somewhere and then really have a problem. The other day Brie sent me a link to this new bracelet that charges your phone (you take it off, unclasp it and plug it in) and it really, actually looks like a bracelet when you’re wearing it (you know how some of those wearable tech accessories still look like you’re wearing a Gameboy on your wrist, as chic as they try to be)…
Now I’m on a mission now to find something that will charge my phone, without taking up too much space and isn’t something that I will also forget to charge. Tall order, I know. Any advice?
There are a ton of small size charges that fit into your purse. For example: Anker Mini Lipstick size charger, has 3000mAH (about 2x charge on an Iphone 5s). Just charge with other items the night before and bring it with you as backup. There are even higher battery storage devices available nowadays, I’ve seen ones up to 10,000 mAh, but going to be heavy but can charge your iPad if you really need it to.

When I turn off the wifi&mobile data it lasts days, *days*. Otherwise I need to charge it everyday, even if I barely touch it (I’m not sure why do I have a phone, sometimes). But I don’t play games, and I suppose instagram is hard to check with no internet…
oh, and reducing the screen brightness/using black backgrounds is only effective if you have an OLED screen like some of Samsung’s phones.
If you find a better solution, please share, I think it’s a widespread problem these days!
Alex, is your phone an iPhone 5? Apple recalled some iPhone 5 batteries because they have shorter life spans and need to be charged more often (sounds like your problem). You can check if it’s eligible at the apple website, here: https://ssl.apple.com/support/iphone5-battery/

Ahhhh I have a 5C!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY MY BATTERY WAS EVERY TIME SO LOW!!! HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY, I’M GOING TO THE APPLE STORE))))
Yes! I took my 5C to the apple store, they gave me a loaner phone and a week later they contacted me to pick up my original phone with a new battery installed – free and easy! btw – twodots level 64 is not impossible :-)
I just pre ordered the gold and silver! My phone is constantly dying.
I’m obsessed with Two Dots too! It’s become a problem. And not just because it’s sucking away my phone battery (this past weekend I actually forgot my charger. big oops.) I’m constantly playing it and praying for new levels haha
Hi there. Mophie makes phone cases that can recharge your battery up to 80%. They come in several colors, but they don’t make them for all phones. http://www.mophie.com
Good luck with Two Dots. I began after you mention it on the blog. I’m now on level 109… But it gets to difficult and I’m losing interest (but at level 64 it was still fun :-) ). squaaaares
I want this bracelet and I’m sure my husband will as well once he watches the video. Thanks for sharing.
Dear Alex, I actually have the same probem with my phone and no solution so this is not about phone charging..it’s about two dots!!! I had the same problem with lvl 64 and now I’m on 110 for already weeks…its driving me crazy!

A flat battery inside a colourful, leather purse, anyone?
http://www.mighty-purse.com/
This way you won´t forget the battery as you can attach it to your phone and carry it with you in the purse – so far the nicest solution I’ve tried in order to solve the dying battery issue. Good luck!
Hi Alex,
I fell head over heels in love with the ‘mighty purse’ for a practical but chic solution to the battery issue: http://www.mighty-purse.com/
They come in tons of colours (the bright purple is my fav so far) and the leather is beautiful.
Enjoy!
You can do this by ensuring they eat sufficient
fruit and vegetables. There are a few factors you want to consider when purchasing a superfood drink powder.
When you give your body a daily dose of these super foods it’s like renovating your body the way someone would renovate an old house that has seen better days.

Change your phone.
“Santa Claus, I want a unicorn !
It doesn’t exist my dear
Alright then I want an iphone with battery
What color the unicorn?”
:-)
Alex!
There is a new clutch that recently hit the market that charges phones. I’ll see if I can find out what it is but it was in the magazines recently. You just stick your phone in it and voila!
Might be worth looking in to.
There are many well-reviewed external battery packs available that offer at least one full iPhone charge, weigh around two ounces, and cost under $20 to about $25. They include packs from Anker, Urge and Lenmar. An iPhone 4 requires 1440 mAh; these offer 2000 mAh or more. I’m testing one from each manufacturer now. You do have to charge them, just as you have to charge your phone, but ‘ve found that plugging in two device is only marginally more complicated than plugging in one. Good luck finding the perfect pack!

Mophie charge case all in one
Further to Jennifer’s comment, there’s a New York based brand called emPOWERED bags that sell clutches with a built in battery so you can charge your phone on the go. Since the battery is built in, you don’t have to worry about forgetting it at a show. They’re super cute and come in a variety of colours and styles, you should check it out!
