Yoga in NYC…
Isn’t always the most zen experience. The girls from SRSLY did a good job of capturing the moment in this video…can you relate?

EXCELLENT !
it is exactly that !!!!!!
minus the revolting guys with no shirts and tiny briefs who don’t “believe in deodorant ” because it is
“natural ” to smell like a raccoon , pouring sweat and BO all over your positive yogi thoughts
EW !

hahaha! people are energy drainers! :)

it’s like this in Minneapolis too. it actually persuaded me to stop going and do yoga at home instead. Bummer!
Can’t say I’ve ever experienced that at my NY studio, “The Yoga Room” in LIC. Although I am sure that exists… I was just having this conversation last night with friends that a lot of studios have gone corporate and thus lost their grass roots/ mom & pop feel, becoming very ‘transaction’ based, which is a shame. However I think the indie movement is coming back strong, so you just gotta find the right studio!
…. namaste ;)
xx
That is really peeerfect video. I love yoga but..

Tres vrai!

Brilliant.
Hahaha, hilarious video! But no, I’m quite lucky and fortunately can’t relate, uff ….and om :-) xxx
Nailed it! I haven’t laughed so hard in awhile – I like yoga, but also doing it at home…
I so love yoga! I did yoga back when nobody did and everyone found it strange but now… it’s just a boom! haha :D

Ahahah, totally, and it’s the same in LA, in the “popular” classes. Well good for yoga, but do one get the stress free relaxation one needs???
LOOOOOOOL!!!! thats why I stick too Reformer Pilates!… its just me and my machine!!

C’est excellent!!!!! Completement parisien pour le coup!!!
A bientôt!
ohh yeas! The yoga is the great bluff!
One of the advantages of living in an average sized middle America town like Memphis is that the yoga studios are neighborhood mom & pop establishments, and although yoga is popular here there’s always a sanity in the room. The pre-class chatter has a twang to it and without ‘like’ between every word.

hahahhahah! They really nailed the sweaty guy that is always grunting. there is one every.single.time!
they missed the lady who sounds like she is in agony/sexual pleasure over doing any movements, even like putting your hands and arms straight up over your head..there is always a lady in the class that’s like OOHHH AWWWHHHOOOO UUUUGUGGGGGGGGG vaguely sex sounding noises. the worst!!!
Thats why i do more active excercise instead :D You can kick whoever is too close and say “woops, my bad!” :D
Funny!!!!

OMG. You’d totally get kicked out of class if you acted like that in Portland!! Yoga is serious business here. Lol!
This reminds me of the lululemon store classes. The one closest to me is in a upscale shopping area in downtown Toronto, and some of the women that attend are hoooooorrible (one brought her little dog!! and put it right in front of my yoga mat!). But it’s free, so I can’t really complain about the cramped quarters
East Village Yoga To The People 100%
Ca peut effectivement être comme cela ;)
J’ai la chance d’avoir un prof plutôt stricte et qui requiert un silence total !

That was my LOL video of the day! It kinda makes the case for having your own home practice…
totally agrre with Annika, jus gota find the right studio and joing a comercial one is not always the best choice…yoga has been a business for a while but you gotta stick to what you want…if you get off on all that lifestyle attitude then things like this will come our way. At my small studio where I have been for more than 20 years things are quite cool

That’s why I practice at home every morning when I wake up! So much better :)
Oh mio Dio…!
Dans un autre genre @paris check it !!

Totally delicious video. Yoga has a built in weirdness. But it’s wonderful anyway!
Hahahhaha! Loved the nail polish on the teacher :). But no. My studio (which is also not in NY) is not like this. I do Bikram, and we’re not supposed/allowed to talk in the room… Maybe it’s a little weird, but I actually like it that way.
“Bring in the Groupon people!”
HAHA i literally cracked up
Brilliant ? that really made me laugh. Captured so well just what you don’t want when you take time out for a class.
Totally!!!! lmaoooo
YES! Besides the money saving reason, all of these are the #2 reason why I mostly practice at home. My biggest pet peeves: studios that let people walk in late and overfill the space.
I couldn’t even watch the whole thing, I was that uncomfortable. My first hot yoga experience I definitely got splashed! by a man wearing only boxer briefs. I think I was having a PTSD moment when the guy sat down next to the principle actress in this video.
