Today, I love the colors and details of Ulla’s outfit so much so that I thought it’d be fun

to fool around a little with my blog’s template and post a really big image.
Between you and me, I don’t think I’ll do it too often, but that depends on you as well. You like this format? Does it bother you to have to scroll do see the entire image? And then you can see all the little details? You like it?
In other news, the restaurant Lucky Strike you see in the photo is pretty great as well. It’s in Soho on Grand St. Biiiiigggg huggggsssss!

When the photo is beautiful and detailed as this I personally like it: you can see better the colours, the shadows and the details and you feel immersed into it.
I think it won’t be suited as well for drawings though, but I can’t judge without seeing it.
Her red lips next to the red writing on the glass… Genius! It’s the center of the photo and it’s way better in a big pic!

J’aime beaucoup ce grand format. On apprécie plus l’image, ce Kelly vintage avec cette belle patine (aaaaaaaaaah jalouse), ce rouge à lèvres (aaaaaah re jalouse)…
Mais comment avez-vous réussi à prendre une fumeuse dans les rues de NYC sans vous vous faire trucider??? Parce qu’il semblerait que la vie des fumeurs dans cette ville est hyer dure?!

C’est chouette d’avoir une photo en grand et de pouvoir profiter des détails et des couleurs… Sa tenue se marie tellement bien avec son environnement! La cigarette et Lucky Strike, tout est en harmonie :)
Oh, ce sac ! Et le rouge orangé aux lèvres est parfait avec son mix de couleurs et il fait joliment écho au ton de “Lucky Strike” sur la devanture.
Moi, j’aime beaucoup ce format de photo, qui permet d’explorer avec encore davantage de curiosité et d’attention.
Pour moi aussi, découvrir ton post chaque jour de la semaine est un vrai moment de réjouissance puis de plaisir. Vorfreude, comme on dit en allemand.

Pour une fois que je ne suis pas vraiment d’accord. Scroller me derange vraiment, car impossible de voir l’image d’un seul coup (sauf sur l’ecran 40 inch de mon universite) donc oui pour plus grand, mais la c’est trop! Pour les fans de details (moi incluse) cliquer sur la photo pour avoir une plus grande image suffirait a satisfaire notre soif de details.
Bise- super photo! J’essaierai ce resto tres vite, la prochaine fois que je suis downtown. (quelle chance tu as! J’habite pres de Columbia University et ce n’est vraiment pas la meme ambiance…)
moi qui suis un malade des détails d’une photo, tu m’évites un clic de plus pour voir en grand. ce qui me frappe ici c’est le pays des typos autour de la fille. ce serait une super idée d’édito à développer, non ? avec des mots signifiants ou pas, dans telle ou telle typo en rapport ou pas avec la fringue portée, ou l’attitude…
Au contraire, ce format est super! Je suis parfois un peu frustrée que tes superbes photos soient si petites… Donc parfait!

– keep your regular template with the normal sized pic, and add a link (or make it a click-through) to the higher resolution pic.

To be honest, I prefer bigger photos as it makes more of an impact. The vintage bag nicely compliments the colours in the background. You are so lucky to be in NY, I’m in Milan at the mo but miss NY soo much!

ça me plaît… oui ! sauf que j’ai un piti écran, donc je dois scroller pour voir et c’est moins joli ! J’adore son sac, son allure, son maquillage !
Elle a un vrai air de bonne copien avec laquelle on peut parler de tout ! Ou de collègue avec laquelle on se sauve à midi pour aller déj n’importe où pour se sauver du bureau et papoter à toute vitesse parce qu’on n’a qu’une heure de temps !

Like the big photo, because it leaves a great impact with the colors and details. Maybe it would be good to enlarge the ones that truly pop out, or do the usual size on the main page and use the big photo when clicked on one in particular… Love the photo by the way and the way she holds the cigarette!

I agree with Lyly June! The bigger the better! That’s why I like looking at Scott’s and your blogs on my iPad so I can enlarge the photos and check out the details! Thanks for reminding me of Lucky Strike! I haven’t been there in a couple years (New York has a way of doing that to you. A cocktail at the Soho Grand used to be de rigeur after an afternoon of shopping south of Houston, now I can’t remember when I was last there.) Lucky Strike reminds me of Soho before the big brand stores pushed out the cool little shops with items made by local designers. It also had a sister restaurant across from Barneys called Match that was great fun! Ahh, the firstborn of the McNally restaurant empire!

Lucky Strike has been one of my haunts for AGES! But I must admit that I don’t love the super big image. I prefer when my eyes can feast on the photo all at once.
I love Lucky Strike! Used to work near there, and it was great for lunch. You’ve inspired me to make a trip downtown . . .
Being a fan of the biggest art books I can find, I love seeing huge images on blogs (although, I have a cinema screen, so I’m not sure how it looks for people with smaller screens…) Personally, I’m for it!

J’adore la photo mais perso je préfère le format habituel. Pa rcontre ce serait bien de pouvoir zoomer si on veut, comme ça tt le monde est content? non?
I’ve been following this blog for a long time, so I feel qualified to comment! I like the more uniform look of the smaller images, I like that my eye can take in the whole look and the whole scene more easily. Why not make it so one can click on the smaller photo and a larger version would appear? We could have the best of both worlds – visual serenity and pouring over the little details that make your subjects so exquisite!

I have to admit, I really do like it better when you can take in the whole image at once. On a laptop, which most people have, the scrolling gets in the way of experiencing the entire picture. Less striking for me, but a beautiful shot nonetheless!
They have delicious salad Niçoise with seared tuna at Lucky Strike! And these large photos are super!
I really like her subtle reduced black skirt!!

je préfère le format où on voit en totalité la photo sans scroller mais bon, utilisé à petites doses c’est sympa;) en tout cas là pour le coup cette photo on a envie de plonger dedans pour taper la causette à Ulla sur le trottoir entre le plat et le dessert chez lucky strike

Amazing photo, full of colour, of life. I really enjoy all those details popping out of the screen. But it’s also annoying to have to go up and down, and not seeing the whole image, the whole picture, so to speak.
So I think I prefer the other format, just to have the whole picture, and see it all put together.

I agree with other readers that the scrolling is no good! We can’t appreciate the image even though we may see outfit details better. I agree clicking to see a larger image would be best of both worlds.

I personally think the big image adds to the coolness of the blog and brings variety. It is a little inconvenient to scroll down to see the whole image, but having this once in a while on the blog isn’t bad and when the images are this great – definitely worth it.
I think the scrolling is fine, it always depends on the picture… with some it’s cool, with others it may be disturbing maybe.

Aaaaaaaaah… Lucky Strike. Yes yes yes, I remember it fondly from my pre-baby, freedom in NYC days… (check out the bar on the adjacent corner where the hottest bartender in the world miiiight still be slangin’ some solid sangria.. mmmmmm good…)
As for the scrolling – not my favorite format for full ensemble viewing, but I do love the details so.. I say go for what most fits your fancy. It’s your world girl, I’m just vicariously living in it.
The picture is too big. Such a lovely image… scrolling definitely takes away from the viewing pleasure.

I looked at it on 3 screens. It’s such a beautiful picture, but I think you are right – even on my biggest screen I have to scroll and that is a bit disrupting. I love the whole new website lay-out with the first photo being big and visible and then moving down and becoming smaller. I’m finding the size is pretty perfect already.

I love the idea of a bigger image, ecpecilly for more artsy pics. It’s not for everyday, but nice once in a while when you have someting spectacular to show, like this:-)

C’est très chouette, mais puisque tu nous demande, quitte à voir les détails, on pourrait avoir des photos gros plans de certains éléments dans l’article (c’est ce à quoi je m’attendais) pq je t’avoue que je suis frustrée finalement, (je suis myope faut pas chercher hein), mais je ne vois pas le grain du sac par exemple, ou les différents couches qui courent si élégamment le long de son bras :) Enfin bon, moi je dis ça, je dis rien :)
For such a wonderful photo with such a marvelous color composition it’s great – literally. Why not choose this format as an option for the “grand-scale-every-detail-counts”-pictures?!
Alors oui, format canon, ça permet de bien voir la photo sans avoir à l’agrandir!
Sinon, question bête, mais elle fait comment pour porter un sac avec une anse aussi petite avec AUTANT de décontraction! Parce que franchement, je ne saurais ni comment le porter, ni comment m’habiller avec, et j’avoue même que je ne l’aurais pas acheté… mais chez elle, cela tombe sous le sens, c’est naturel… Quel est son secret?

I prefer the smaller format–I like the immediacy of seeing the entire image instead of having to scroll through the larger format. Is Ulla really only wearing that today? In NYC? with this cold? Sleeves pushed up and all? Wow!

Garance, ce que j’aime avec ton super blog c’est qu’on y trouve de nombreux looks intemporels, comme celui-là. J’aime le tee-shirt à rayures jaune. Oui, j’aime beaucoup ce format de photo, on a l’impression d’y être en direct live.
La photo est superbe, et pas que pour les détails de la tenue – la vitrine est géniale !

I also prefer the smaller format, but for some pics – like this one – the larger image definitely works. And ditto on Lucky Strike; I love that place!!!

I love it! I really missed the bigger photos to be honest. The wide, rectangular ones that were only visible at the top of the screen weren’t quite cutting it for me, to be honest. =P

You have a very good eye. It looks as though she has picked up a collection of very basic and retro items at a Salvation Army store and then mixed them in a genius way. She adds a fresh cut and red lipstick and even the plastic purse appears chic.
