Stay Calm : Robert Irwin
8 years ago by
Rarely do I plan my weekends, but at the first sign of a warm day, I was on a train to Dia Beacon.
My friend Nane suggested it – I just couldn’t say no, and I’m GREAT at saying no btw. A day getaway out of the city is just what one needs sometimes. And the recently unveiled work from Robert Irwin, a Californian Light and Space artist, was an immediate favorite when we arrived – it created a real peaceful calmness despite the maze of white walls affixed with fluorescent tubes, striped with color.
Perhaps some might reference the permanent pieces from Dan Flavin in the next corridor, but when you wander through the 16 chambers of luminous light, shadows of other viewers appearing and disappearing, you begin to get a sense for the rhythmic temperament.
Its a show, and an entire museum, worth seeing and experiencing. Lucky for you, Irwin is on exhibit until 2017!

c’est super de vous voir aussi en photo le studio !
merci pour la découverte de l’artiste.
Brie, if you enjoyed this exhibition, you need to go to Villa Panza in Lombardy, whenever you come to Milan.
The permanent collection has some incredible pieces of Irwin, Flavin, and also Turrel.
Un petit bijoux!
