Let’s Mantra!
8 years ago by
It’s March and like everyone else in the fashion industry, we’re just finishing fashion week month! Our days have been filled with requesting samples, running to shows (Brie and Erik) and answering a lot of emails, so how do we handle it? Through my years of practicing yoga, I have learned that a simple meditation is the one thing in the morning (besides coffee of course) that gets me through my day successfully! Whether you are an avid meditator or a beginner, here are some simple mantras that I use to quiet the mind and body.
Find a quiet area and sit comfortably. Usually at home I sit on pillows and wrap myself in a scarf since its winter and chilly when I first wake up. Take a few deep breaths and allow yourself the next five minutes (if not more) to just focus on breathing and relaxing.
The first mantra is OM – repeat this quietly in your head during each inhalation. The second mantra is Let Go – just keep telling yourself this (until you start believing it!) and continue to breathe deeply. If you lose concentration, gently bring your attention back to the mantras.
Do you have any mantras that help you during your meditation practice? We’d love to hear your tips!
I like to say “thank you” it’s not really a mantra but it’s very important — and really help shift your energy

I in fact really like the Guided Meditation with Melissa Ambrosini that you can find on Lorna Jane Youtube channel! It’s so simple, and it’s the only meditation I keep going back to.

I’ll have to try mantras! I’ve always focused on my breathing, and have recently found HeadSpace to be helpful in concentrating on not concentrating as well.
OM as i inhale and exhale Shanti Shanti Shanti!

Sat nam! Also Om naval shivaya and various songs I learned at the ashram. If you like music to guide your mediation, songs from ” Chants of India” by Ravi Shankar are really nice to listen to. Also when I have 25 minutes I play Danny Becher crystal healing bowls music for chakras : Root to Heart, Heart to Crown. They are lovely, check them out on youtube. I just went to this GREAT permanent art installation in NYC which offers a very nice meditative feeling, good to bring non meditating pals : the Dream House! Its donation based and and its open till midnight! So cool! http://www.melafoundation.org/dream02.htm
Voici mes mantras:
“Je suis en paix” ou “lacher prise” aussi
Je me suis créé un “petit paradis” aussi dans ma tête, je le visualise et tout de suite je me sens apaisée et heureuse !
I would love to hear the suggestions, too!

I like to repeat – Peace is in me-
I also find putting one hand on the heart and the other by the navel point and noticing the breath rise and fall is very comforting and centering.
And a beautiful and powerful mantra to listen to is – I Am Thine sung by Jai- Jagdeesh. It’s Absolutely lovely!!!
Love the topic, have been chanting mantras since 1992, this is my favorite for 2 years so far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSmToj9VZ4s
Love it

Was catching up on posts and so glad to see this. I just watched the Dalai Lama and the head of the Center for Healthy Minds at UWisconsin at an event sponsored by National Geographic talking about mindfulness meditation. Guess National Geographic works at exploring the mind too.
You can watch it at http://www.investigatinghealthyminds.org/ Super interesting. You don’t have to be Buddhist to meditate, they do seem to be the pros. Tergar.org is with online mediation videos too. They have loads of really helpful videos on how to meditate. (This is Laurie Anderson’s and was Lou Reeds Buddhist group.)
