Concrete Decisions

Ever find yourself strangely attracted to concrete?
Ya, me too.
So beautifully smooth, it’s hard to imagine something so basic in its components could inspire such incomparable architecture design.
Case in point, these three locations: a hotel, a residence, and an interactive sculpture to add to your bucket list…
1. Casa Luis Barragán is the former residence of architect Luis Barragán in Miguel Hidalgo district, Mexico City. Evoking thoughts of modernism and bubblegum, you can take a tour! Buff up your knowledge of both horses and stark minimalism with a secret personality.
2. Fan of architect Tadao Ando? An intimate seven-room retreat built by none other than Ando recently opened outside the city of Matsuyama on Japan’s smallest island, Shikoku. Enjoy sushi and views of the sparkling Setouchi inland sea, not to mention notions of Ex-Machina-like aesthetics.
3. The hills ARE alive with German artist Lukas Kuhne’s site-specific sound sculpture on a mountainside above the town of Seydisfjordur, Iceland. Inside Tvisongur, each dome has its own resonance that corresponds to a tone in the Icelandic musical tradition of five-tone harmony.
Love that first photograph!

I’m an architect and love this article dedicated to this amazing spaces. I always think that fashion it’s about how we comunicate with the environment, sometimes in a very particular ways of expressions… in architecture it’s about a very complex language that we build every moment of our life… but they are always together. I can’t think of any of the pictures presented in this blog without a nice location. Architecture and fashion are always dialoguing and to me that’s why their look real.
Lovely selection! I love this kind of post :-)
Fantastic sites! Thank you!
