Art We Heart
9 years ago by
Fall is here, and that’s our favorite season to rediscover everything we love about New York (after spending all summer escaping to the beach) — and that includes the art! So, we decided to put together a list of exhibitions on in the city right now, and that we’re hoping to make it to…
Any others to add to our list? Have you made it to any of these yet?
Greater New York at PS1
Every five years, MoMA PS1 curates a selection of emerging artists to showcase as part of ‘Greater New York’. On in Queens right now, it features 400 works from 157 artists – a great way to support new talent.
Dan Flavin at David Zwirner
Maybe the best photo op in art exhibition history (aside from maybe Yayoi Kusama!), Flavin is known for his work with lights and color (well, colorful lights…). This exhibition is a selection of his work from the 60s and 70s – and it’s free!
Jim Shaw at The New Museum
A somewhat surreal, and at times bleak, look at the world is shown in Shaw’s iconic work. For those a little more political minded, this is an interesting look at how art can comment on society.
Picasso Sculpture at MoMA
It’s Picasso. We love him, everyone loves him (right?!) Now see his work in 3D! Haha.
Public Art at The Brooklyn Bridge Park
It’s still warm enough! Just, maybe with a coat… And there’s sculptures by Danish artist Jeppe Hein, a plexiglass structure by Tom Fruin, and more. Basically, some great Instagram opportunities ;)
Not specifically art, but I really want to see the exhibit about Hemingway at the Morgan Library!
“Berlin Metropolis” at the Neue Galerie bien sûr! Can’t wait to read your book, Garance!
Picasso? Non.
Dan Flavin’s exhibit is indeed cool.
They have his stuff also upstate in DIA Beacon, which would make for a great trip on the weekend.
Always important to promote artists!
