Sporty Summer
4 years ago by
Needless to say, this New York summer is quite different than those of the past. Typically, the streets of this city are my in-person fashion magazine. I am endlessly inspired by the people and outfits I see here. (Instagram outfit posts will never hold a candle to the intimidatingly cool strangers I see on the subway). The streets are quieter this year, and for good reason, but fewer pedestrians also means fewer people to people-watch.
However, there is one thing that seems to be getting everyone out the door… the workout! In New York, the parks and the streets have turned into gyms. After all, there’s only so much bouncing and jumping you can do in your 5th floor walkup.
So my former fashion magazine has turned into a fitness magazine. In my fantasy, it’s a fitness magazine from the 90s with old-school Nike ads and off-duty looks worth of Princess Diana. I know we’re all dressing a bit more comfortably these days (I mean, I know I am), but if you’re going to be out, and you’re going to be working out, why not look a little bit stylish while you do it?

This falls really flat for me. I love beautifully styled content, and when I saw the title of this post, “Sporty Summer”, I thought, yes! something for me! But seeing photos of a braless young girl jogging in the park in a sweater feels neither aspirational nor relatable. Who is this content for? Not me. I’m really disappointed… this seems so tone deaf.
Good post.!! Keep them coming. Glad to read more:)
It really is a pleasure to see that you are taking the time to produce less but such high quality content on your website. Thank you!
These looks are the very definition of athleisure.
