Mad for Plaid
7 years ago by
The concept of plaid for Fall is often likened to that of florals for spring: expected, passé, or as Miranda Priestly would say… groundbreaking (cue exaggerated eye roll and awkward silence). This season however, plaid is back in a big and bold way, and I am here with the help of our gorgeous friend Cyndle to make the case for plaid being the coolest trend of the fall.
Plaid is often times misunderstood. When thinking of plaid as it relates to fashion, best-case scenario is you’re picturing Cher’s iconic Clueless look; worst-case scenario you’re thinking of lumberjacks. But the plaid I’m making a case for isn’t the typical cozy flannel you might have in mind – rather it’s the revival of the classic 70s plaid. A little bit retro and a LOT bit chic, 70s plaid is making a comeback on the runways. With the combination of its muted earth tone palettes and the way it plays off of sumptuous fabrics, a piece of this plaid variety makes for the perfect fall look.
Now, while it’s true that Cyndle would look good in just about anything, don’t be intimidated – there is a piece of plaid out there for everyone! Whether you’re feeling bold with a statement coat, or you want to incorporate just a touch with a mini skirt, you cannot go wrong with this retro look.
I love plaid! But, even tough people are wearing it just because it’s a Fall’s trend, I wear it all my life! I always loved how stylish and classic it is!

J’aime beaucoup le premier look mais le pantalon est trop long. (A mon gout.)
J’adore les mocassins du dernier look !
Well I’m excited because I have a secret style crush on plaid!

Hi Kat! Unless otherwise stated, the photos were taken by our in house photographer, Pia (we always credit the freelance photographers we use!) It’s her preference not to be credited. x
I see! Thanks for the reply Natalie! x
