The Edit No.5 / Part 3 – Manteau Militaire

One of my favorite things about fall is all the possibilities of coats … long, short, puffy, and fuzzy! Particularly so with this season’s military trend – it really resonates with me, classic and with just a hint of patriotic uniformity. There’s something about navy blues and army greens that feel extra real for the colder months – riffing on iconic shapes that are wearable in the most sincere form of the word.
With NET-A-PORTER’s just launched Winter Shop, I thought it was the perfect time to show you some of my ideal military inspired coats on our wordsmith of a friend, Anna!
I’ve fan-girled over this coat for as long as it’s been on the market (so approximately 5 years – and no, I still do not own it). But I love that it’s tough AND cool AND warm. It’s got that winter coat x-factor, and is actually based on a traditional flight bomber jacket.
I think we could all agree a furry lined parka is needed in every man, woman, and child’s wardrobe. It’s like the epitome of casual chic – you know, cotton washed and worn to the optimal softness AND lined with shearling. The ultimate high-low mix!
I love the silhouette of a long, tailored coat. Just by throwing it on you’re instantly put together, no matter what you have underneath! Plus it gives the feeling of authority, without compromising warmth.
A bit of nostalgia comes to mind when I think about a peacoat. It might be THE most timeless of them all, but I like that they get updated every year. Also, they always make me think of fleet week, which in turn really makes me want to wear one!
I have four luxury apparel items I want to buy once I make enough money, and that Acne shearling jacket is at the top of my list. So gorgeous (And actually useful too)!
Beautifully styled story- makes me excited for the colder months!
Brilliant editorial!

Gorgeous model !
Love the vibe
Great styling!!! The coats are amazing but also the little details- great jewelry, hats, shoes, etc. I was also intrigued by the touch of pink eye shadow in the last look… Maybe i will give that a shot too! Xoxo
Je suis un peu surprise de ne pas savoir de quelles marques sont les différents vêtements – j’aime beaucoup le caban et me dis qu’avant de m’emballer, j’aimerais me faire une idée du prix…
Hi Caroline,
All of the products that were shot on Anna are included in the widget of the post! Thanks!
x Emily
That Acne aviator jacket is beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

Bonjour,
Très joli choix de manteaux!
Petite question: seriez-vous en mesure de m’indiquer la référence du rouge à lèvres porté sur les photos de “l’admirable amiral”? J’en cherche un exactement comme celui-ci :D
Merci d’avance et bonne journée
very beautiful coat dear
kisses

Hi I’d like to know where to find the earrings in the second photo (little gold cuff/hoops) – the links on ‘shopping the story’ don’t seem to be working.
Thanks.
Hi there,
These Sophie Buhai earrings can be found in the Shop The Story section of the post, or at this link! x Natalie
Yet another super unique and cool outfits. I like especially these shoes on the third picture.
Incredible photos. And extremely tasteful styling. Basically the whole post is a pleasure to read – thank you!
this is a stunning edit.
Absolutely love Anna’s red lipstick but didn’t see it mentioned in the product widget? Thank you!
where is the hat in the last photo from?
I am looking for the shoes in the Desert Storm section to this post: the black block high heels with four (4) buckle straps across the top. The model is bending over to seemingly adjust one of the straps. (I cannot find any link to these.)
Also, where can I find the long blue & gold earring in Admirably Admiral section – the one with the long peacoat???
Perhaps I don’t understand the links nor can I find the Shop the Story referred to other comment answers, can anyone help???
a
Hi Bea! You can find all of those items in the “Shop the Story” section at the bottom of the story. The buckle heels are Laurence Dacade and the earrings are Etro.
So glad you liked the story! x
