This is the bracelet that Chopard lent me for the AmFar gala*.
They’re emeralds and I think it’s the most beautiful thing that I’ve ever been given to wear. The most precious. I picked it out because it reminded me of vintage jewelry. I love the light color of the emeralds, their cut… And I thought they looked really damn good with my dress.**
What cracks me up though is that just like Cinderella, with the jewels comes a body guard as well, as you would imagine…
Ça, c’est le bracelet qui m’avait été prêté par Chopard pour la soirée de l’AmFar*.
Ce sont des émeraudes, et je crois que c’est la plus belle chose qui m’ai jamais été donné de porter. La plus précieuse aussi. J’en ai encore les yeux qui brillent. Je l’ai choisi parce qu’il m’a fait penser à un bijoux ancien. J’ai adoré la couleur très claire des émeraudes, leur taille minutieuse… Et je trouvais que ça allait super bien avec ma robe.**
Ce qui est très marrant, dans le genre Cendrillon, c’est qu’avec les bijoux on vous prête aussi un garde du corps, vous imaginez bien…
And of course, we couldn’t help, Salomé*** **** and I, from crying out Bodyguard***** at the top of our lungs all night long.
But the funniest thing is that at the moment the party ends and we make our way back home, the bodyguard is still there… Even if you have forgotten about him for a good while. He looks at you with a big smile and well, you know that it’s time to give the jewelry back. And back to normal life once more.
Yet life will never ever again be the same.

Evidemment on n’a pas pu s’empêcher, avec Salomé*** **** de chanter Bodyguard***** à tue-tête toute la soirée.
Mais le truc le plus étonnant, c’est le moment où la soirée se termine et où l’on rentre se coucher. Le bodyguard est toujours là alors qu’on l’avait oublié depuis longtemps. Il nous regarde avec un grand sourire et là on sait que c’est le moment de rendre les bijoux. Et de retourner à sa vie normale.
Qui ne sera plus, plus jamais la même.

On a donc “grandi” si on doit expliquer le phénomène Bodyguard : LE film de mon adolescence quoi ! Par contre, j’ai tenté de le revoir alors que ça avait été une vraie émotion ciné… eh bien, FATALE erreur. Allez, maintenant, la tenue !
Ce bracelet est si précieux.. mais en même temps n’en fait pas des tonnes. Le genre de bijoux que l’on peut décaler à souhait!

Le “bracelet”* est absolument sublime. Magnifique. As my bday is in May, emeralds are my birth stones…but i never really liked them. Too cheap looking, too tiny, too expensive. But those are absolutely luscious! Good choice Garance, can’t wait to see them with your dress!

What a stunning piece! And it’s sort of a “quiet beauty” rather than “look at me I am Chopard bracelet”… unless, of course, one doesn’t notice a bodyguard that comes with it. Got to DIY something similar with some glass beads and gold looking metals while watching the above mentioned movie on tv…

Vintage? Moghol?
Yes, rather Moghol!
Why? Because this jewel is made with emerald beads – or what we call here in France “émeraudes taille boule”.
This jewellery technique has been used since decades in India, especially in Rajahstan during the Great Moghols era. The emeralds traditionnally came from Columbia and were sent to Goa by the Portuguese, where the Moghol emperors would buy the most beautiful ones to have them cut in their workshops in Jaipur.
One of the most renowned jewellery House for this type of work is Cartier since they were commissionned prestigious pieces by the Moghols themselves. I think they’ve perpetuated this style through the ages… but the same technique might lead to several looks, I guess this Chopard piece has its own.
Oh that colour, it’s like the sea around Sardegna! Bracelets are easier to wear than necklaces aren’t they. Easier than a body guard:)
