When in Paris, I stayed close to the #PlacedelaRepublique. Day and night I would pass by and see people lighting candles, paying their respects, praying, and even brooming to keep the place clean. I took this photo early in the morning and already people were gathering around. It shows how deeply wounded and affected Paris is. I talked with my friends and saw a dark, sad shadow in their eyes, even when they were smiling. I also saw people continuing to live and laugh. Yesterday people gathered at my book signing. Yes there was security everywhere, but so many people showed up and smiled and shared. One mom came to have a book signed for her daughter, who was very close to the attacks and is too traumatized to go to public places. I want to send her warm hugs and tell her to take it day by day. Time heals. Today I’m also thinking of the dramas that just happened in America and that happen around the world everyday. I hope peace will come back. We all have it in us. It can happen. I hope.
