Beautifully filmed! Regarding the photography, I think this is your best Pardon My French to date. I like how it changes from black & white to colour as it makes the colour parts of the film look so much more richer in colour. Some of the shoes shown fleetingly from the fashion shows look exquisite and that pink coat you have on Garance is a gorgeous colour!

Personnellement je ne porte jamais de talons (même si je trouve ça très beau), et quand j’en porte, c’est tellement peu naturel pour moi que je ne me sens pas plus sexy ou je n’ai pas plus confiance en moi, au contraire… ça doit être une question d’habitude, et de nature, comme dit Caroline.

I love love this! I would live in heels if I could. The thing is i am surrounded by ‘flat people!’ maybe it’s San Francisco or the nature of my job… I feel like a high-heel outsiders! Otherwise I would be the person, no matter the pain, I wear my heals.. Love all the tips…. Good point about not buying heels early in the morning. I just bought a pair of Manilo and might have made a mistake.. otherwise they are the most comfortable heel!

Super vidéo, vraiment! Merci de nous présenter les coulisses de la FW de cette façon. C’est vrai qu’on se dit toujours en voyant les photos: mais comment elles font? En même temps le truc ultime: porter des ballerines entre deux apparitions, ça on le fait toutes!! Je ne suis pas vraiment une « porteuse de talons », mais c’est vrai que c’est beau, à condition de ne pas avoir la démarche d’un flamant rose comme malheureusement beaucoup de femmes en talons :-)
Par contre Louboutin je le trouve un peu gonflé de dire que porter des talons ça sert à prendre le temps et arrêter de courir. Ca c’est un peu la justification a posteriori, non? Selon moi, il est beaucoup plus honnête (même si c’est beaucoup plus macho) quand il dit que porter des talons ça remodèle la silhouette (soyons aussi claires que lui: ça projette les seins en avant, ça cambre le dos et ça met en valeur les fesses).

C’est tellement bizarre de te voir au bar du central ou je mange, littéralement une fois par semaine! Comme si bugs bunny sortait de l’écran. D’ailleurs, petit tips, celui rue Cler est mieux et la terrasse plus sympa et juste à 5 minutes à pieds… ce qui pour une journée en talon est un critère décisif, je comprends (pour la prochaine fois)

Walking on heels all day long is such a challenge, I loved all the things Louboutin said too. Although, ALWAYS carrie flats on your bag, that is a rule for so many girls, I think! :) xx

Wearing heels can be a pain but it is amazing how they change the way you carry yourself. Just yesterday a coworker said, « you look confident today, » and it was true, I felt fantastic! It’s tougher on the days when you are running around, so I prefer to bike in my heels, that way I limit the number of steps I take and avoid painful afternoons :)

A bit of a Louboutin maintenance question for you, Garance, and other commentators on this post:

How do you keep the soles of your Louboutin’s from scraping and scratching and losing the red lacquer? Mine are three times worn only and the red lacquer on the sole is heavily scratched :-(

C’est mon Pardon my French préfèré !! J’adore les talons, j’en porte tous les jours… Même si je réserve mes Louboutins pour les soirées. Mon « secret » ? Pas plus de 8cm en journée et je garde les 10cm pour le soir… Mais toujours de belles chaussures, sans me venter, je pense avoir le plus beau shoesing de mon pays…

Ohhhhh how I’ve missed « Pardon my French » in my life! Finally, the secrets revealed how fashions elite manage in heals and after all, we learn they are human like everyone else!!!

Admittedly though, there are a few heels I have that I do find quite comfortable and can last all day strutting the streets. Oddly enough they are from Zara! I know, not what you might expect from fast-fashion, but I kid you not when you search out there all leather shoes, they are a great little purchase with a long comfortable life!

Thank you for wonderful PMF video! Hope there is more where that came from.

Garance, you are such a lovely person, but pain is never chic (nor is bunion surgery). Your video made me think of Chinese women with bound feet who cannot walk – it is a form of oppression. If 5″ stilettos were so fantastic, Mr. Loubtoutin would be wearing them himself. Stick with your Church’s and buck cliche notions of what it means to be sexy.

Oh man this is so relevant! I have a love/hate relationship with heels. I think they look great but also think they are a sort of modern-day foot binding. I have about 20 different pairs but keep buying more because I love them so much, still!

j’adore le plat, les sandales estivales, les mocassins, les bottes cavalières mais je ne porte que des talons. J’ai bien tenté quelques expériences en renonçant quelques heures à ces centimètres qui nous rapprochent si facilement de La femme idéale mais j’y ai renoncé, bizarrement, je ne me reconnaissait pas sans mon artifices. En fait, je ne me reconnais jamais sans ces artifices: rouge à lèvre, œil charbonneux, talons vertigineux à la cambrure parfaite (ah, la cambrure, hyper importante, à hauteur égale de talon, certains escarpins paraissent vulgaire ou lourds). On devient vitre accros à regarder le monde de haut (du sens le plus noble au sens le plus mesquin),ça rassure , ça déplace l’inquiétude du côté de l’autre, c’est comme une prise de pouvoir, une ascension non pas sociale mais symbolique, on gage une tête, on prend le commandement …
Les chaussures hautes blessent , c’est vrai et je les supporte de moins en moins, et c’est plus difficile de trouver la paire qui ne se distendra pas (ah les escarpins qui font « mules » au bout de deux mois…),bref, on a plus de paires, on doit en racheter plus souvent car plus fragiles, ça vous enchaîne à votre chausseur.
Le pire, ça vous catalogue auprès des autres femmes : à 18 ans, j’étais déjà mise sur le banc des accusées: superficielle et soumise au diktat du mâle fétichiste…Mais si la superficialité consiste à se choisir chaque jour, alors on l’est toutes, et ces cm font que les hommes baissent les yeux devant moi, et me permettent de traiter d’égale à égale avec les autres femmes, celles dont le regard compte peut-être plus que celui de l’homme.
Si je ne me sens pas moi sans mes talons, c’est aussi parce qu’ils me permettent ,de m’imposer et de montrer aussi que non, je n’ai pas peur du désir que je peux susciter. On peut exprimer plein de choses avec ses souliers au fond, reste le risque ,parfois de se faire mal comprendre (ne pas porter de python noir ou de rouge pour faire ses courses, regards réprobateurs du côté féminin, filature et propos obscènes côté masculin).

I enjoyed that Garance, both clever and fun. Whilst I love my shoes I think perhaps the heel equivalent for us men is a well cut suit. Certainly for me it changes the way I carry myself compared to my workday jeans or slacks and sweater; as you said in conversation with M. Louboutin you present yourself,slow down and maybe talk more. Maybe I should wear my shots more often…

You have amazingly beautiful feet in that shoes! besides what was said about attitude, the way one walks, one’s feet look in general smaller and nicer, at least before they get all swollen up ;)

I know, i should not care, but honestly the reason why I rarely buy/wear heels is: My man is a bit smaller than me, and so I prefer to wear flats, though I really shouldn’t bother about the size difference… it is more comfortable to be able to look him somewhat in the eyes (how do guys do that the other way round??) Maybe it is just my imagination, but in Paris, people don’t look so much, and when we go on holidays, first funny looks usually disappear when we overwhelm them with our amazing personality!!!! still, sometimes i wish it would be less of an issue and more accepted if the woman is taller than the man.

Une petite astuce pour la prochaine FW : la crème Sports Akileine de Nok. C’est une crème (pas très glamour) anti-frottements utilisées par les sportifs. Conseil : commence à en mettre une fois par jour si possible quelques semaines avant la FW (en mode traitement traitement de choc). J’avoue ça parait contraignant mais c’est testé et approuvé !

Moi aussi j’ai beaucoup aimé regardé ce PMF; il tombait à pic car je ne porte pas très souvent des talons hauts mais je viens de m’acheter ma 3ème paire de chaussures à talon Chie Mihara.
Je pense que c’est une bonne marque pour celles qui n’ont pas trop l’habitude de porter des talons. Les chaussures sont de très bonne qualité et conçues de manière à ce que le port de la chaussure soit confortable (la créatrice de la marque a travaillé chez un orthopédiste, je crois). Moi je suis convaincue! C’est une marque qui n’est pas donnée mais la qualité y est. Le design peut ne pas convenir à toutes, je le conçois, mais une fois que vous essayez les chaussures, vous en tombez amoureuse… :)

A few things:
a) your hair is continually , according to christian siriano…just… »fierce ».
b) I really think french + italian women are in another stratosphere with heels. I have seen women in paris run to catch a cab super-high heels. I have seen a elderly lady take a tumble on the wet floors of Monoprix…and instead of taking off her unreasonably high wedges (what i would have done), she just got up brushed herself off, told those helping her up « c’est pas grave » and kept on going. seriously she was like 75.
c) I really think there are ‘heels people’, and ‘flats people’. My mother has pictures of her in the highest heels when she was 9 months pregnant. I on the other hand wore flats on my wedding day.

J’adore cette video et je trouve qu’on exerce trop de pression sur les femmes pour qu’elles portent des talons bcp trop! je mesure 1m50 et j’ai porte des talons pendant plus de 10 ans jusqu’au jour ou j’ai eu mal au dos a cause des talons alors je me suis achete des tas de chaussures plates et MA VIE A CHANGE! je me sens a l’aise, efficace, rapide. J’arrive a finir beaucoup plus de choses et je m’en fous si je dois porter des sacs, rester debout ou courir pour etre a l’heure. Ma productivite a augmente.
Je garde les talons pour les soirees, les rendez-vous et les moments coquins… et je me sens tout aussi sexy et feminine!
