WAKE UP! Without caffeine.

WAKE UP! Without caffeine.

  • I try to limit myself to one cup of coffee per day, but I also find that a morning jog and/or a green juice help energize me too!

  • I don’t drink coffee but I could totally use it! this stuff sounds great

  • This is a totally boring response but I can’t wake up properly without a morning shower. Perfect wake up refresher.

  • Although, like G., I need my dose of caffeine to properly function, the best discovery I’ve made was the Mentha Body Wash by C.O. Bigelow (http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4132475&cm_vc=200). It really was a lifesaver on those winter mornings where I was quite unwilling to leave my bed and get ready for class. The peppermint is extremely invigorating (it can get very tingly on the skin so use with caution!), and one of my favourite scents/ingredients. Later on I graduated to the peppermint castille soap by Dr Brenner, a more natural alternative, although I found it wasn’t strong enough to wake me up. So I added a few drops of essential oils into the bottle. For the evening, I used the lavender one (and, similarly, added essential oils to it). I’ll have to try the ones you recommend!

My wake up routine (apart from the usual quick bathroom routine that I share with everyone else) is pretty lengthy: without it, I’m lethargic the rest of the day. So, it consists of a massive stretch all over whilst still lying in bed – complete with the usual accompanying growls and yowls – sometimes with eyes still closed (it gets my blood going to get going); followed by a glass of room temperature water; driving my son to school; returning home to do the garden for up to an hour (we’ve a large veggie garden out the back, and lots of new saplings this year – frangipani, gardenia, elder flower- all the white flowers that smell amazing in our warm months- smelling their fresh, heady scents is like wandering into Nature’s parfumerie, and is invigorating beyond measure); another glass of water, yoga for thirty or forty minutes; followed by five minutes of corpse pose; a oat breakfast that I’ve soaked overnight, with whatever berries are in the fridge… And only THEN, is my mind ready to face the rest of the day.

  • Coffee is so important for me.
I’m a morning person, so waking up is actually not s problem for me.

  • How cool! I love the idea of this because I don’t really drink coffee x

  • Oh come on surely you’re not suggesting that a shower can take the place of coffee!!? I bet those scents are amazing and a shower does help to wake oneself up but nothing gets one going like coffee. Surely that is the ultimate stimulant. I totally agree that cutting down and out (for some) is a really really good idea but as there is no substitute that is legal and advisable in the morning (!) isn’t it just ‘get on with it’, go through the withdrawls and the detoxing and then give yourself a big pat on the back when you are out on the ‘I don’t drink coffee anymore’ side of life?

  • These sound amazing, and the packaging is really cool too. I don’t drink coffee and never have–caffeine doesn’t do anything to me, and I don’t like the taste of coffee–but I keep hearing it’s not that bad for you if you already drink it! I find exercise wakes me up better than anything else–I just roll out of bed on to the floor and do a Pilates video, and then I’m ready for the day haha.
