Summer in the City

La ville de New York change en été. Il y a tous les changements évidents mais pas que. Il fait chaud, humide, ça sent un peu mauvais, oui. Mais la ville est aussi vide. Ou du moins, c’est l’impression que j’ai. Pendant l’été à New York, tout le monde essaie de s’échapper… à la plage, au lac, n’importe où plutôt que dans ces rues chaudes.
Pendant mon premier été à New York, mes collègues de l’époque me demandaient où je partais pour le weekend. Mais bon, j’étais une assistante de 22 ans qui travaillait trop, sans amis et sans argent, je ne pouvais aller nulle part. Et bien sûr, plutôt que de l’avouer, je préférais me vanter… “Oh, je reste là”, je disais, comme si c’était un choix, “j’adore la ville en été”.
Ce n’était peut-être pas vrai quand je l’ai dit pour la première fois, mais pendant mon premier été étouffant à New York, j’ai commencé à y croire.
Au moment où les gens partent en weekend, l’ambiance de la ville change. J’ai toujours eu l’impression que les gens qu’on avait abandonnés là allaient en profiter le plus possible, et tant pis pour la chaleur ! Nous prenons le soleil sur tous les rooftops qu’on peut trouver, les enfants courent dans les bornes incendie, le mec au coin de la rue met la musique plus fort que d’habitude. Pendant tout l’été, les New-Yorkais boivent, dansent, sourient. Oui, c’est humide et oui, ça sent mauvais mais tant pis, faisons la fête.
Et c’est ça la magie de l’été à New York, et ça n’existe que là.

What a wonderful declaration of love to the City! I am going to move there in a few weeks and I can’t wait to spend the whole summer on the little island of Manhattan. Thank god for our future rooftop though :-)

As a native New Yorker, I can say that there is nothing like summer in the city. Although it smells and it’s humid as f**k, there’s nothing like an empty city, rooftop hangs, and those summer sunsets. Also, love how you styled these outfits!

Love the Story!And it is still so me, staying in the city(Lisboa) in the summer specially in June when the capital is pumping with energy ( Just ask Madonna Louise Ciccone!)! We have The Santos Populares( Popular Saints and to give you guys an ideia , imagine having your 4th ofJuly, Mardi Gras, and Saint Paddy’s in one month???), the summer festivals and music gatherings, some with Great lineups ( CoolJazz Fest and OutJazz for instance),the beach is just right there…summing up, you tend to burn a lot a $$$ to even consider getting out of here , you Know?
However, i think that everyone who has been in NYC in the summer can picture in their head:sunning on rooftops , the kids running through fire hydrants, beach towels in the grass near water fountains…yeah , as a city guy ,i just love it !!!

Every city has its own culture and no matter what the culture I always feel good , and It seems to me that you are enjoying too. I am in love with your dressing, the color of your dress is so relaxing to eyes. In winter I would love to see you in leather jackets and then I will be buying those jackets too :)
