Bonne année, bonne année, bonne annéééeeeeee !!!
Je ne sais pas ce que vous en pensez, mais j’ai comme l’impression que 2016 va être une super année. Ouais, j’en suis sûre. Même pas besoin de faire des résolutions, tiens.
D’ailleurs, si mon idée ça avait été d’en faire, j’aurais été bien emmerdée : ma première idée pour 2016, c’était de ne pas faire de réveillon histoire de commencer l’année en pleine forme et de réfléchir à mes intentions pour l’année nouvelle, et j’ai fini bourrée dans les rues de New York à quatre heures du mat.
Un vrai départ sur les chapeaux de roue, quoi.
Et depuis j’ai été trop occupée pour réfléchir à mon développement personnel (uhuh), mais là, en ce trois janvier deux mille seize, je suis enfin calée sur une plage (la plage, l’endroit parfait pour penser à sa vie) avec une margarita (margarita, le cocktail parfait pour ne pas penser à sa vie) et je peux enfin partager avec vous ce dont j’ai envie pour 2016.
Attention c’est légèrement chamallow, mais si vous restez jusqu’à la fin de ce post, je vous promets de vous annoncer un truc très marrant.
Donc.
La chose la plus importante que j’ai apprise récemment, c’est que ce qui compte avant tout et en toutes choses, c’est l’attitude que l’on adopte face aux épreuves (mêmes les plus bénignes, comme cette stupide bestiole qui m’a piqué la cuisse la nuit dernière et qui fait que maintenant je suis à la plage avec une cuisse trop bien trop lisse rasée de près et l’autre qui ressemble à un steak tartare) que la vie nous envoie. En 2015, le plus possible, j’ai essayé d’y répondre avec un sourire et un esprit positif, plutôt que de sombrer dans l’inquiétude et l’angoisse.
Je me suis rendu compte que ça change absolument tout.
Et je voudrais essayer de continuer à cultiver cette attitude.
Que ce soit face à mon corps, l’un des premiers endroits où il est important pour les femmes de cultiver la paix et l’amour. Car une fois qu’on trouve ça, ça libère la tête pour des choses plus importantes que « aurais-je dû commander ce churros hier soir » (vous suivez le thème mexicain de ce post ? Ouais je suis en vacances au Mexique). Et ça ne veut pas dire atteindre le corps hyper mince qu’il « faut avoir en ce moment » ou les schémas établis, du tout.
Juste trouver son propre équilibre, s’accepter, se faire du bien.
A ce sujet, en 2015, je n’ai toujours pas exactement trouvé la plénitude, mais par contre j’ai trouvé plein de filles qui m’inspirent beaucoup – sur Instagram notamment. Bailey Rebecca Roberts et ses courbes magnifiques qu’on prend souvent en photo pour le blog mais d’autres aussi,comme Hannah Bronfman et son corps hyper athlétique. Pas besoin de coller aux idéaux pour être belle, du moment qu’on s’accepte et qu’on s’assume. Du moment qu’on y croit, le monde entier y croit, je vous promets, c’est vraiment comme une formule magique.
Tiens d’ailleurs, en parlant d’Instagram et de médias sociaux – j’ai passé une bonne partie de l’année à râler (bah oui je suis Française, on nous enlève pas la râle comme ça!) sur le rythme et les idéaux infernaux auxquels on se soumet à force d’être confrontés aux fausses vies idéales des autres, mais je pense aujourd’hui qu’il ne tient qu’à nous d’en faire un outil d’inspiration plutôt que de pression. On unfollow les comptes qui nous stressent et on se concentre sur ceux qui nous motivent d’une manière positive.
Que l’inspiration, ce soit un outil de confiance en soi, pas un truc en plus pour nous oppresser.
Bon, je pourrais passer quatre heures à vous parler de mes théories sur une vie meilleure, mais ça suffit un peu, alors je vais vous écrire mes autres promesses pour 2016 en accéléré…
En 2016, je me promets de…
De suivre les choses et les gens avec qui c’est naturel.
De développer ma confiance en moi plutôt que d’obéir aux schémas établis (c’est le travail d’une vie, mais ça vaut vraiment le coup de s’y mettre.)
De bosser à fond, mais dans le plaisir, jamais dans la douleur.
D’arrêter de culpabiliser – de garder en tête que l’important, c’est de faire de son mieux. Et qu’on ne peut pas faire plaisir à tout le monde.
Et aussi, parce qu’à la base, ceci était censé être une Editor’s Letter, je me promets de faire de ce site un endroit encore plus passionnant, encore plus innovant et encore plus différent. Cette année, je peux me consacrer entièrement au blog ! Vous ne pouvez pas savoir à quel point ça me rend heureuse.
Bref, en gros, de suivre les choses qui me semblent justes et me rendent heureuse, et de ne pas trop m’embarrasser avec le reste.
Et sur ce, voici la nouvelle qui tue (enfin qui m’a carrément laissée sans voix)(pendant plusieurs heures)(j’ai pas encore totalement digéré le truc) : Hier, Chris m’a demandée en MARIAGE !!! J’ai dit OUI !!! 2016 est l’année où je vais me marier !!!!
C’est fou. Et c’est génial. Et c’est vraiment la preuve qu’avec esprit positif et confiance en la vie, tout peut arriver. Je vous prépare un immense post là-dessus pour cette semaine.

Félicitations ! Tu vas voir, c’est des montagnes de préparatifs pour une journée qui passe hyper vite, très intense en émotions, où on reçoit plein d’amour et d’attention. Tu verras aussi que se marier révèle la vraie nature des gens autour de soi, et que ça fait mûrir très vite, et que ça soude encore plus le couple, si les deux s’investissent dans les préparatifs. N’écoute que vous deux, vos envies, pour ne pas avoir de regrets. Ce mariage doit vous ressembler, et ce sera un jour parfait, rempli d’une explosion de bonheur. Je me suis mariée le 24 octobre 201r, et c’était encore plus génial que ce dont on rêvait. Nos amis et témoins se sont investis à fond pour nous aider.
Un dernier conseil : Chris et toi, définissez qui vous voulez mettre dans la confidence du déroulé/préparatifs du grand jour, et pour éviter que tous les autres invités interfèrent dans vos choix, dites-leur simplement « on veut que vous soyez émerveillés et surpris tout le long de la journée, donc on garde tout secret pour ne pas vous gâcher la surprise. » Et vous serez tranquilles pour tout faire à votre idée, sans ingérence !
Amusez-vous bien à créer votre journée idéale ! Et je suis super heureuse pour vous !

I literally got tears in my eyes when I read the last bit. It’s random, considering that I’ve never seen you, but less so, considering that I’ve looked up to you through your blog for, what, seven years? I remember when I found out you were together with Scott. Then reading that you broke up and moved out. Then seeing the incredibly handsome Chris in you photos. And now marriage. I’m so happy for you, so really really happy.
This made me realise. For me, 2016 will be the year that I become that person. I have spent too long following, admiring, looking up, waiting, asking for permission. It’s time for me to step up, work really hard, become good, be a role model and not worry. Like you have. 2016 will be a great year, it will be a year that I make a great on, when I become great.

I work with a wedding caterer in LA (I worked at about 14 weddings last year!) There is no one way to do it – but I must say the most powerful weddings weren’t the biggest. My recommendation – get married small (for you anyway!) and then have a kick ass party for the rest.

Now I will create my own big « 2016 mood board » but not listing things, but rather use the yellow « post it » like you did and add photos, tickets (well, cinema, theater etc, not for driving too fast ;- ) and other positive stuff throughout the year. Best place will be at my apartment door so that I can see it whenever I leave or come back.

FÉLICITATIONS GARANCE!!! Quand j’ai vu m’image avec le post-it de gauche qui dit I do, j’ai eu un pressentiment et je suis tellement tellement heureuse pour toi! Au fond, ça se voit que tu es une grande romantique et tu mérites ce happy ending. J’ai super hâte de suivre cette aventure avec toi, je ne suis pas du tout à cette étape là de ma vie (les 20s angoissants…), mais j’espère que tu suivras ton instinct, que tu feras ce qui te plait et surtout que tu te transformeras pas en Bridezilla à l’américaine (je regarde trop d’épisodes de ‘Say Yes To The Dress’ aha) poussée par la folie du mariage là-bas (mais ça m’étonnerait). Je sais que tu sauras rester cool à la française, mais avec un sparkle américain. ;) Bref, je m’emporte, mais so excited for you. J’ai hâte de voir ce que vous nous préparez pour le blog en 2016! Au fait, j’ai beaucoup apprécié justement la série de photos avec Bailey (qui est trop belle) car cela change des physiques typiques qu’on voit tout le temps dans les magazines donc pour 2016 encore plus de filles qui sont bien dans leurs baskets et qui savent adapter la mode à leur morphologie tout en prenant la liberté de porter ce qu’elles veulent. Et pour finir, j’ai adoré la vidéo que vous avez fait en partenariat avec le film The Intern, c’était juste hyper inspirant.
