Two Cities
9 years ago by
At the Studio, we love Madewell!
And we really love their collabs, like the one launching today — the company’s second one with French brand Sézane. It’s framed around the dual Paris-NYC lifestyle, which we think is kind of perfect — especially with these striped tees.e
The designer Morgane Sézalory was in NY the other day and I got to meet her and ask her a little bit about her love for each city, and how she adapts to each one:
I declare my love for NY… By coming to see it regularly, at least annually! Just one taxi ride, and I feel the energy of this city. I love to walk around and discover the new hotels, restaurants, exhibits.
I declare my love for Paris… By living here for 25 years now, and I’ll never be able to leave it. A city where my dreams come true.
At night in Paris… jeans + heels + feminine blouse + not much makeup.
At night in NY… it seems more dressed up — women here wear dresses, makeup, heels.
(I would never dress up in Paris like girls do in NY at night; it’s all about effortless chic!)
A typical lunch with girlfriends can be described as…
NY: Easy brunch (my favorites are ABC Kitchen, The Wythe Hotel, Nobu, Rosemary’s or Locanda Verde)
Paris: A little bistro (my favorites are L’Office, Pan, East or Guilo Guilo)
Now to decide which city to declare your love to first? Maybe it depends on which continent you happen to be on? Or your mood that day? Or maybe whether blue or red is best suited to your outfit?
Can there ever be a favorite, really?!!
these are so cute! I want one

Ah, just love these tees. And so interesting to note how NYC women get more dressed up. But it is true some women really get decked out in their finest when going out in NY.

Je choisis Paris même si j’adore ma ville qui est nord-américaine et qui s’appelle Montréal. Paris offre des coins de convivialité et de tranquillité que j’apprécie plus que ceux de NY.
I’d have to say New York is my favorite city because it was my first love. Even though i’ve taken a bit of a break from it for two months in Paris (and it has been wondeful), New York seems to be drawing me back. New York is my forever love.
I’ve been to Paris and fell head over heels with it! I haven’t been to NY and fell head over heels with it too! Plus, both tees are adorable so It’s impossible to decide!

Well I have never been to NY and even if it seems to be an amazing city, I’ll pick Paris please :) !

New York has a special kind of magic. It is a city filled with energy and excitement! However, Paris is a bit more reserved which, I adore. It is romantic, passionate, elegant and creative all at once. Paris has stolen my heart, there is nothing else like it!
Though I’ve never been to NYC, I know Paris is my city!
I love both cities as well as other cities that are, and or are becoming fashion and creativity capitals. I am also a fan of Madewell since I read that in the Fall they are bringing out denim flares for petite women. I love flares (they remind me me of my bell bottoms) and It has been impossible to get a pair because by the tie I finish hemming them they are no longer flares. I am so happy Madewell is filling this gap.

Love the Paris T-shirt !!!
Where could I get it ?
Merci –
Go to the Madewell site & look for these tops.
New York! Is where I am from. Can take the girl out of NY, can’t take the NY outta the girl.
I have been to NYC, never been to Paris.
Loved NYC and I’m pretty sure I’d love Paris, at least the cafes…
But at the moment I would have to choose the NYC top. :)

Paris Paris Paris !
Ma ville, mon village, mon chez-moi !
J’adore NYC, mais la pression y est intense, un peu trop pour y vivre (quoi que peut-être à Long Island City ou à Crown Heights ?!)
