It’s chicer than it sounds.
The ultra smoky eyes at Derek Lam (dubbed “raccoon eyes” by makeup master Tom Pecheux) might be the easiest to master, as you really get to color outside of the lines. I’m at about a Pre-K level in the school of the smoky eye, but this is one intense look I think I could get right…
The question is: when and where can I wear it?

Mhhh this one is tricky to adapt to ‘real life’. It seems simple to achieve but it can go wrong in so many ways. It can look like we have been hit in both eyes or we have bad under eye circles. I think I would accentuate on the lid using a cream eyeshadow and then do a little smoky under the eye. I would wear it to a concert, an open mic night, any cool event, quite relax. Plus, big messy hair to add a sexy touch.

Magnifique mais je suis pas sûre que ce soit si simple que ça justement !
Faire ce look sans avoir l’air d’être réellement un raton-laveur mais plutôt une fille au regard ultra sexy, et accorder le reste du make up pour que ça reste lumineux et sophistiqué, mais pas too much parce qu’il y a déjà énormément d’info autour des yeux…
Sur la photo, la mannequin a une queue de cheval ultra nette, c’est une bonne idée pour garder un côté élégant. Enfin bref : avec ce genre de look il faut vraiment penser à TOUT pour que ça fonctionne !

I said I’d never wear skinny jeans, they looked weird – and here I sit with skinny jeans. I said I’d never wear chandelier earrings – my favorite pair are 4 1/2″ long. I’ve said I’d never do a lot of things but when my eye got used to them I did them and love them. Having said that, I never will do a raccoon eye, even if it becomes ragingly popular. My eyes have a lot of visible lid and dark circles underneath that are so difficult to cover up and get worse as I get older. A smokey eye accentuates everything I try to hide and, frankly, make me look even older than I am (i.e. old). For me, this is less about following a trend and more about knowing my limitations.
Exactly… I mean- some trends aren’t very “translatable”..
