Pam Nasr’s Clams Casino
5 years ago by
You may remember our friend Pam from this post!
Well, she’s a multi-talented creative powerhouse who just finished directing a new short film called Clams Casino, which has had incredible success on the U.S. and international film festival circuit.
The film focuses on the interwoven lives of four Latina women and explores themes of communication, desire, and nourishment. In addition to directing the film, Pam was responsible for production design and styling. The resulting visuals are gorgeously rich – Pam cites some of her aesthetic references as Goodfellas, The Chef, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, and Salvador Dali’s cookbook, Les Diners de Gala. Anyone familiar with Pam’s extensive fashion styling and production design work will recognize her unique visual stamp on this film.
The film’s visuals are not the only drawcard. The narrative is complex and thought-provoking, exploring the meaning of loneliness, what it means to socialize in the modern age and our urge to feel desired. And, all of this is action-packed into ten juicy minutes!
We can’t wait to see it! And luckily for us (and you, fellow New Yorkers!), Clams Casino will be screening at The Brooklyn Women’s Film Festival on August 22nd at the Wythe Hotel. Get your tickets here and we can’t wait to see you there!
