One Love

As a typical millennial, I fall into the category of a Netflix binge watcher.
And in doing so, I recently stumbled upon a gem of a documentary. If you haven’t seen Marley, you are seriously missing out. Yes, I may be late to the game (like really late – it came out in 2012), but it has completely changed my views of the Rastafarian culture and way of living. Bob Marley encompassed so much greatness and acceptance in his life and it’s reflected in his gift of music to the world. His views on life, women and our purpose on this earth were so profound and, I must say, changed the way I understand his music. It had me thinking about the way I live my life and also ways that I can change my habits, for the better, of course! A definite addition to your watch list this week!
Netflix has such a great selection of documentaries on legendary artists. My next one is on Nina Simone. What’s on your Netflix watch list?!
FYI, Netflix has optioned Marlon James’ A Brief History of Seven Killings for a series on Netflix. It’s a fictionalized account of Bob Marley’s Peace Concert and the attempt made on Marley’s life, as told by the people around him (e.g., slum lords, gang members, Jamaican politicians, women who slept with Marley, Rolling Stone journalists).
More Marley on the way for Netflix.
in my country, netflix is a lame deal: they offer way less shows for the exact same price. so i kinda have to do the illegal stream thing… :)

— and by Netflix, I mean HBO.
Oops!
And before anyone gets too nostalgic for Haile Selassie, they should read “The Last Emperor.” Actually, read it anyway. Fabulous book.
Recently watched Janis Joplin – Little Girl Blue on Netflix. Great! I also review films & documentaries on occasion for my Life/Style blog @ http://girlwhowouldbeking.com Check it out!
I’ll make sure to watch Marley as I lived in Jamaica off & on for several years and visited his home in Kingston, Jamaica. XO
Make sure you check out Finding Vivian Maier-brilliant. And the doc on the demise of Tower Records-a really fun ride. #docsrule
I’m loving Narcos at the minute!
