Nails on the go
11 years ago by
My travel beauty gift to you…
Okay so this season I did not get a fancy gel manicure. Heck, I didn’t get a manicure at all! I painted my nails in my apartment a few hours before I left for the airport. Today was the day that I had to finally remove and revamp my nail polish. It was chipped and very sad looking. Before I left I picked up these wipes at Duane Reade.
Now, I know everyone makes nail polish remover wipes for travel, but these are crazy good. I don’t know what’s in them (okay, probably a lot of acetone) but when you’re in a rush, they are a total lifesaver (because as you know, nail polish is very much a life and death matter). It was like I didn’t even have to try to remove the polish. My nails just got close enough to the wipe and it just vanished (not really, but you get the idea).
Super fast, super easy, super convenient.
What are your recommendations for nail polish removal on the go?
Wipes are great for traveling. I haven’t tried the ones you’ve mentioned but will look for them.
Here is my post from a while back re: Sephora Instant Nail Polish Remover:

This sounds great! With my nail polish remover I have to practically scrape of the polish… doesn’t work that well, so I’m curious for good ideas too!!

I’ve only used nail polish remover wipes once and they weren’t that great. I’d love to try these. I have to say that I use pure acetone remover because it’s so much faster and works better at getting bright colored polish off. My nails are pretty strong so the acetone doesn’t do too much damage.
I saw something like that in Japan but can’t find them here in London. These are lifesavers!

Oui, j’ai utilisé une seule fois des kingettes : c’était celles de la marque Muji. Elles étaient bien mieux que mon dissolvant habituel !
The DR brand wipes are my favorite, and the ones with the pink label (for non-acetone) are just as good and better for your nails!

Il y a aussi le petit pot rose de chez Sephora : ça parait un peu barbare de premier abord mais c’est très efficace, uniquement pour les mains ! Pour les pieds j’ai pas essayé…
Thanks for the tip!
It’s a bit of a hassle to maintain your nails while travelling (and I noticed handling luggage doesn’t do them good either) – but at the same time, it’s kinda homely and a nice moment of rest when doing your nails when you’re abroad :)
oh what a lifesaver! I didn’t know there were wipes for this. One: you can’t fly with liquids. Two: Even in car travel a bottle of nail polish remover spills no matter how tight you tighten it. (Yes, from experience — twice. Because I think I’ll relax and do my toenails on the road and it …never… happens). Thanks so much!! Maybe now it will.
Je n’avais jamais vu de lingettes, donc du coup chaque fois que je vais en voyage, je ne met pas de vernis pour ne pas qu’il s’écaille… Je le saurai pour la prochaine fois…

did u try the Sephora nail polish remover ….a jar with a sponge with a whole…u put your finger in…and it removes your polish..it’s about $9
Yes!! DR are the best :)
Ooh! How lovely and convenient! I really enjoy reading your posts – there are so conversational and funny ;) I was wondering, might you recommend your favorite brand of drugstore foundation? I’m looking to buy a new foundation on a budget! Thanks!
Yes these are the bomb! I bought some in New York in may and still have a few sachets left, am treating them like gold as I live in Australia. They remove the darkest colours so quickly and one wipe easily does both hands. I will be upset once I’ve used the last one :-(
Le dissolvant de chez bourgeois! Il sent “presque” bon (un plus pour un dissolvant) et on a juste à tremper son ongle 5 seconde dans le petit pot plein de mousse! C’est magique et rigolo ;)
When I saw the picture, I thought it was a condom… That was the stupid and useless comment of the day ! Haha
I second you on this one!!! They are the best, I don’t know why, but they work wicked good. I keep them in my desk at work for emergencies… I put up a post a while back with a funny nail polish remover story… you should check it out!!
