Conquering My Fear
10 years ago by
My irrational fear of bandage skirts.
I’ve never worn one because, really, I am terrified.
Will my butt look okay?
What do I wear on top?
Is it too Kardashian?
Will I be able to sit in it?
What about going to the bathroom?
Those are just a few of the thoughts running through my head whenever I come face to face with one.
Despite all that, I think this Band of Outsiders trompe l’oeil version is pretty awesome. It might even be cool enough to help me conquer my fear…
You just need to find the right one (size, color and length) and it will look good on you. I am a curvy, bum at your face type, and I’ve always been terrified to wear that skirt. Had to wear one this season. Match with short jumpers and something with lace underneath, or crispy white shirts and nice coat, to give you security. High heels and laser cut underwear.

If there is one to try out, it’s definitely that one. I love that skirt. I’m sure you’d definitely figure out a way to style it that works for you, and I think you’d totally look fab in it.

Love Band of Outsiders, but this may never be a fear I conquer. I’m not a full figured gal just round in the rump and I have always loved this look. I’ve just never loved it on myself. I’ll rock a great pencil skirt all day long, but bandage has just never worked out. This skirt is definitely making me want to give it one last try.
I personally find high waisted bandage skirts, in particular, to do wonders for my not-very-big-or-interesting butt.
Forget about that unless you spend whole your life sitting. Every step you take, the bandage skirt goes up, so after a few steps you’ve got super mini covering only your butt. Practised.

I too have a fear of the dreaded bandage skirt, but that one is pretty awesome!

Oh I feel your fear Garance! I think the only time I’ve ever worn one was in my early 20’s before the thigh & butt began to grow!LOL!
I love this skirt…
I was scared of bandage everything until I had to do a blog post about a dress.
I found the bandage dress really comfortable and that it held a lot of sins in.
Now I love them!

It looks amazing, this one, but it also makes me cringe .. hate it when skirts roll up on you or you must spend like a 1000 minutes in the restrooms to straighten it again after you’re done.
I’ll pass on this look.
This bandage skirt is certainly one of a kind!
I recently got one with a long zipper on one side (from top to bottom) and it’s great! If I’m in a hurry and don’t want to take penguin steps (which really is how you walk in these) I can make a slit and run! It also solves the bathroom problem ;)
Beautiful skirt.

Love this skirt!

Elle est superbe !
I saved an image of the same skirt! I love the “trompe l’oeil” effect that reminds me so mutch Roberta di Camerino’s work!
Ive tried it, looked good. BUT, it was uncomfortable since i like to move quite fast, and it doesn’t allow you to, you can’t step too long in these. Also, it is usually slipping up all the time, so every bandage skirt i had drove me crazy, i had to pull them down at every 4th step! Aaaaargh.
Garance, you have beautiful legs and slender hips, this skirt would be alright but you have much better options with a different shape.
Hmmmmm…if you are worried? SPANX!
Bandage skirts are awesome when they keep everything “Put together!”
The challenge is when you don’t have luggage on top to even it out….even swimmers shoulders work.

My boyfriend is laughing on me when I walk in bandage skirt. Step step step, very little steps :D
I love this idea! Looks very creative to me.
