It’s the beginning of December which means it’s officially winter in New York! It also means it’s time to accept this truth and start pulling the winter boots out of the deepest closet depths (which I did reluctantly a few days ago). While permanently wearing boots for the next five months makes it easier to hide neglected pedicures, it can be pretty monotonous wearing the same pair of boots every day. This is especially true with snow boots. I’ve had the same pair of snow boots for the past few years, and am hoping to update them this year with a new pair — something that will keep my feet toasty but also look cute and preferably not too bulky. Is that so much to ask?
Any suggestions for a chic pair of snow boots?

The Winter Shuffle
I just invested in a pair of shearling No.6 boots last weekend! I am pretty excited about them, they are very cool and so warm. Bring on the cold weather, I am ready. :)

I was just going through the same debacle! …until I found Soren’s Joan of Arctic wedge boots. They are so comfortable, weatherproof, yet chic enough to go out to dinner in. They are tough enough for the snow and look good too, so definitely check them out. I will be wearing them through winter in NYC. ????
Sorel Caribou boots. My mainstay in the snowy Sierra. No one would be caught dead without them around here. Fashion meets practicality.

I have a very nice pair by Sorel: sturdy, super warm and it doesn’t look too snowboot obvious. It’s the Tivoli model in light grey with white fake fur. It belongs to last year’s collection but every year they come up with new versions around Christmas. Sorel is a great brand because their boots have the best quality. I live in the North of Germany where it’s always windy, rainy/snowy and cold (we reach -20º easily), so quality goes first. I’m thinking about buying the Major Moto boot as well… but as I said before I’m waiting a little bit because they have new prettier versions for the holidays! ;)

I have had some amazingly warm knee-high boots from Timberland- and I still get compliments for them, plus they prevent potential wipe-outs on icey streets…
But what boots is your model wearing in the picture? Love them!

I just invested in a pair of Blundstones, the winter edition, and have been really loving them. They are especially cute with a pair of woolly socks peaking out.
I bought a pair of black shearling lined Dr. Martens with a little heel and it was the best decision ever.
Sorels and No 6 boots all winter long!
I agree – Sorels and No. 6 are great – but I live in Aspen, Colorado and EVERYONE has them. Its always a challenge to branch out from the Sorels. I have a pair of La Canadiennes that are hands down my favorite pair of winter boots. They are exceptional quality, warm, and not clunky like Sorel in any way. For a completely different look this winter, I’m going in for a pair of Woolrich Rockies, which I’ve noticed many designers are also doing (the hiker look), but the Woolrich look the most authentic. I’d rather pair a cashmere camel coat with Woolrich than a Kjus coat with Prada hikers. Just sayin’….
Sorel Joan of Arctic boots are great, but hard to walk in for all day errands. switching it up with other lined boots is key. My stand by in our coat closet are a couple Uggs. I know…ugh…but if you have never owned a pair don’t judge. :)

Blundstones! Of course, when the snow gets super high and hasn’t been shoveled (living in a snow belt of Ontario) I go for the Sorels. Both the Blundstones and the Sorel’s grip well on packed down snow and ice! Then I change into cute shoes at work. The salt kills most of the nice boots I have, so I go for a price range that isn’t crazy, but still quality (considering it is the longest season for us), and can withstand salt and a few years of wear. The No.6’s are cute… but at ~$500, I know the salt will kill them. :)
