Three Looks with Christina Holevas

We thought we’d bring you a familiar face to brighten up your day in the doldrums of this colder than usual February. Our favorite Christina Holevas (now the Senior Accessories and Jewelry Editor at W Mag) sat and chatted with us all about her excitement around spring fashion and what she will be wearing once the snow finally melts!

How has quarantine changed your relationship with fashion?

I think my relationship with fashion has become more thoughtful and planned during quarantine. Since I don’t have to go out and get dressed every day, I feel like I have a bit more time to consider how I would like to dress and what I would like to buy. I don’t ever buy anything in a rush anymore, because I’m never really in a rush to go anywhere. I used to get really nervous about making big investment purchases. I felt like I couldn’t spend a large amount of money on one or two things because I needed to buy enough things to wear everyday, but now that I don’t need to dress up every day, I’m more comfortable with saving for one or two special things that I love.

I also generally feel like I’m wanting to dress in a softer, and more comfortable way, maybe even a bit more feminine. Before quarantine I was a staunch jeans and pants loyalist, always stiff and high waisted. But lately, I have been dreaming more about longer dresses and skirts, and looser slacks.

What are you most looking forward to when dressing for spring fashion?

I’m excited to get out of my house! I just want to get dressed up and go meet some friends for dinner. Because I’ve missed it so much, I think I will probably put a bit more effort into getting dressed up now than I ever did in the past. I’m interested in exploring this slightly more feminine side of my style that I haven’t really embraced in the past.

How would you describe your current style in three words?

Soft, comfortable, easy.

What is your typical everyday uniform these days?

Oh gosh. The aspirational me gets at least a little bit dressed everyday but I do find myself working in pajamas much of the time. I do a lot of zoom meetings now, so I usually wear a nice sweater or cardigan and I always wear a small pair of hoop earrings. I try to upgrade my sweatpants into a pair of vintage Levis or some vintage army pants that I stole from my boyfriend, but it doesn’t always happen.

Three accessories everyone needs in their closet?

It’s hard for me to say because I think accessories are so personal! For me, the top three must haves are a great pair of boots to wear every day, a bag that is simultaneously elegant and large enough to fit my computer, and my forever jewelry pieces (hoops, a chain necklace, and a bracelet).
