It seems only appropriate that the holiday season should be infused with a bit of shine, even if it is in the plastic form of sequins. The word sequin, in fact, was taken up in France to designate what it means today from the Italian word zecchino, a gold coin… Which makes sense since, in earlier centuries (dating back to 2500BC!!), they were made of shiny metals. Ahhh, isn’t history fun!
But, as we’ve come to know it, a sequin signifies that time of year when you are suddenly attending festive holiday parties and nothing seems more fitting than wearing a sequin-covered mini dress, the kind suitable for the likes of Romy and Michelle… at their high school reunion…
There must be a way to make sequins OK… Cool, even? They manifest into garments at every price point, shape, size, and color! Alas, where there’s a will, there IS a way. And who better than a group of girls gifted with the art of coordination to help give a few ideas? Meet the ladies of Chez Conversations: Mia, Margot, Cleo, Kate, and Liza!
With the new Django at The Roxy as our backdrop, the girls demonstrated just how easy it is to wear sequins without going overboard. Piano not included.

What a great post! Loved all the looks. Congratulations on the styling, they all look effortlessly chic…
Sequins make me uncomfortable, in general but I do find them more appealing during the holidays. I can only wear sequins if it’s subdued!

Le total look, ça fait too much!
Belle journée
Petite and So What?
Je trouve le pantalon blanc trop cool !! Chic et discret à la fois !
Wow voilà comment bien me sensibiliser au sequins!

For the last two years I have felt that all I want to wear for Christmas is something sparkly (sequins included!)
Especially as we have no snow (and no hope of snow) here yet and the Northern nights (and days) are sooooo dark. Sequins bring a little light and Christmas mood for sure. And they make you party-ready faster than anything else.
My favourite is the silver sequin skirt!

Ohw sequins are perfect for holidays, parties and so on. I love mixing it with minimal wool cloth in order to create a great, balanced contrast!

Sequin is a good decoration. Especially the skirt made in sequins is attractive .DarlingDressau.com
What a great post! Love the photos – Erik is super talented!
