Under the Covers
11 years ago by
Like I was saying yesterday in This is Trending (Wahooo! Thanks for all your comments and encouragements. I was on a little cloud all day!), it’s all the rage right now to wear a blanket.
Okay, there are blankets and there are blankets, you know? And maaaaaybe I wore a blanket from Restoration Hardware (Seriously, I wasn’t kidding when I said that I grabbed it on my couch) but in the photos here, the girls are wearing real clothes, indeed…
But inspired by blankets, let’s put it that way.
Jenni, in the first photo, is wearing a Suno cape (I want the same one!!) and I love her way of wearing it on top of her coat- and I’m going to copy it myself today!
As for the other photos, I have no idea where what they’re wearing came from, but one thing is for sure, it’s Valentine’s Day and what better way to get a guy under the blankets with you than just to wear one (bit of a stretch? noooo…)?
Voilà. Yeah. I just LOVE to make up stories. Happy Valentine’s Day! Let’s hear it for LOVE!
layering saves us :)

Carrément mon style : j’a-dore la première photo !! :-)
Love the double coat look she’s got going on with the layered Suno cape over her tweedy one. I think it’s a great idea to layer a short sleeved or 3/4 sleeve coat over a full sleeve one as well. Wish I’d thought of it when it was colder here, it’s now a gorgeous 60° in Madrid! Pinning it for reference for next year…

It’s such a chic way to stay warm during the winter! Love it.

They look so comfy! I want one (even though there’s no blizzard coming to Paris as far as I know…)

Many years ago Jean Charles des Castelbajac designed some coats made with typical Swedish covers (maybe the brand was Tistrand or something like this). Unforturately I cannot find the pictures on the web!

Hahah you’re right!
Everyon’e wearing one!

Gros gros crush pour Jenni: quelle beauté, quel sourire!
Wow! Love the first picture, Suno makes such beautiful clothes, I also loved the fall 2013 collection! And to wear a cape over a coat is a wonderful idea, really appropriate for freezing Switzerland! Also the other looks are grate, but somehow I didn’t really like the blankets from LV, well… I actually think they are beautiful blankets, but I somehow couldn’t connect with the looks of the people wrapping them self up in these blankets, for me it was too much “hey look at me, take a picture of me”.
Happy Valentine Garance and team, may lot’s of Love come your way! xxx
Joyeux Saint-Valentin! These coats look heavy, but these girls make it look cool.

I’m all for fashion that looks great AND makes you want to cuddle up with a cup of hot chocolate and a hot lover. ;). Happy Valentine’s Day!
I’m going to have some concerns if someone decides to wear a belted sleeping bag now.
^but these looks are great (I just don’t want folks taking this blanket thing to far) ;)
Je pourrais lui répondre: This is Trending now!
Love the blanket-cape, so stylish
Sí al sí quiero
I love this style and the new section!!http://heelsandpeplum.wordpress.com/

That first look is sick! I love the mixes of textures and colors. And she looks soooo cozy.

Its funny because I just went to see the movie ‘Lincoln’ last night.
And Daniel Day-Lewis’ presidential character was always wearing a shawl/blankie/scarf. I think it was meant to show his physically frailty against the harsh cold….but I thought he looked so elegant.

I absoslutely love this idea of wearing a blanket coat/cape on top of our regular coat..so chic and cozy.

Here comes the rain again, falling on my head like a memory…..annie lennox d’eurythmics en 1985 portait deja une couverture par dessus son manteau dans le clip ….here comes the plaid again!!
Happy Valentine’s Day, Garance! here’s a bit of a similarly themed quick read for you:

Love the first girl!!
http://www.bonnieclydemarni.com/
Garance, the woman in the last photo is also wearing a cape coat by Suno from fall 2011!
Wonderful layering, but I’m totally in love with the first coat!
I’m still grinning at your suggestion of how to get a guy under the blankets! And I also feel quite pleased that I don’t have to feel strange when all I want to do is walk around all day covered and trailing a blanket around at my feet…though I suppose I should try to at least find a NICE blanket (in the form of a coat, ok, ok). Yay for being cozy!

We should have started wearing blankets again a while ago.
the smile of the first girl is amazing!
I am pretty sure the second coat is a vintage Hudson Bay blanket turned into a coat… at least thats what it looks like. I love it and want it!
