If you’re like me, you’ve heard a lot of talk about Carine Roitfeld and her book these past few months… But really, you had no idea what it looked like! I finally just got my hands on a copy (see what I mean when I say I’m a little late on everything these days?!!) and I think it’s so great.
It’s big and soft, the layout is simple and beautiful and the way the text works with the pictures makes it a great read.
Here are a few images of my favorite pages. If you’d like, you can try to spot among them :
– The recipe for Carine’s coolitude.
– The editorial that inspired an ultra-scandalous Gucci campaign (look closer!)
– The perfect outfit if you’re pregnant.
– A page that made me feel super guilty… The “thank you notes” page. This is the kind of the thing I have to learn to do more often!
– The photo that helped me discover Crystal Renn… Shot in 2005, before anyone knew who she was!
– A few fashion photos that really meant a lot to me as a teenager… And that definitely influenced my style today.
– An ad campaign shot BY Carine.
– The proof that even Carine has had average hair days.
– My favorite photo of Helena Christensen.
– The cutest dedication ever. We’re all with you, Sisley!

Just added the Irrevelant book party at BookMARC next week to my calendar the other day. Got a quick glimpse of the book at Collette last month (note to self: Never go there the Saturday of Paris Fashion Week!) and have placed my order with Amazon.

Karine, je la trouve intrigante même si je n’ai pas toujours partagé son point de vue éditorial quand elle était chez Vogue (trop vulgaire, trop stéréotypé, trop différent de mon style, trop tout en fait…). Il n’empêche que même si on ne partage pas ses choix, on ne peut que respecter son audace, sa personnalité, son dynamisme.
Alors, oui je vais acheter ce bouquin et je suis sûre que je serai agréablement surprise :-)

Ah oui, en même temps normal qu’elle sache faire un chouette livre. La prochaine fois que je vais en librairie… et je suppose que ça va être un hit chez le père Noel ;-)
“Une page qui me fait hyper culpabiliser, celle des « thank you notes »… Le truc qu’il faut que j’apprenne à faire plus souvent !” …c’est vrai c’est tellement important d’être reconnaissant dans sa vie, on a tendance à l’oublier …En tout cas ce livre à l’air effectivement trés beau, un cadeau de Noel éventuel :)

Tout ce que je savais sur elle avait un rapport avec défilés, Vogue et extrême froideur…
Certainement de beaux a priori vendeur en matière de mode, mais c’est sympa de la voir comme ça, jeune et fraîche.

Après l’interview que j’avais lue d’elle chez Café Mode, je suis contente de voir ces images qui me confortent dans l’idée déjà dégagée par Géraldine que c’est une personnalité plus complexe que l’image que j’en avais. Merci donc ! Le livre est trop cher pour moi mais j’essayerai d’aller le feuilleter chez Colette.

Le livre m’a l’air vraiment bien foutu. Limite scrapbook très vivant et rendant ce monde un peu plus accessible… Sauf que, au risque de paraître idiote… (Mais je crois qu’aucune question n’est stupide). Tu pourrais expliquer la note sur Sisley? Moi pas comprendre… Et apparemment, une autre de tes commentatrice non plus ^^

Comme je l’avais déjà dit dans un post précèdent , je trouve le style et les idées de CR assez vulgaires. Quand j’étais abonnée à Vogue lorsqu’elle était rédac c’était toujours la surenchère du nu et de la provoc et je me suis désabonnée. Maintenant j’attends de voir les prochains avec EA.
Bref on ne peut en tout cas pas enlever à CR sa forte personnalité.

La série avec Crystal Renn était magnifique, une superbe numéro sur l’érotisme. Même si le style Roitfeld tendait au répétitif elle avait vraiment fait du Vogue un magazine excitant et surprenant.
