Before the Show
9 years ago by
When I met Sarah two seasons ago during PFW, well, my first thought was “What a stunning woman!” (which of course wasn’t said out-loud!), and my next thought was, we have to feature her somehow! Especially after I found out she is a casting director and also has a farm (apparently we have a thing with farmers here at the studio) – where she is currently awaiting arrival of a dwarf donkey, her latest obsession after her sometimes scraggly but unfailingly cute dogs.
So, yeah, she’s pretty cool.
You see, she is a former model (Erik secretly called her Gisele during our shoot) who does casting for runway shows, campaigns, and editorials. It’s an interesting career, to be trusted in making the right decision of who “the” girl is for a brand. You really need to have an understanding of the client, and know that you can find just the right fit.
So this season, in Paris, we decided to go behind the scenes to see what casting for a show looks like! We were lucky enough to invade the space gracefully interact at the showroom of Maison Rabih Kayrouz and follow along during Sarah’s initial casting, fittings, and day of show proceedings… Where every model showed up on time, of course!
The atmosphere was brilliant, serene and calm, everyone drinking homemade lemonade and champagne just before the show, which, by the way, was beautiful.

OMG, she’s really sophisticated and cool. Phoebe-Philo-sophisticated and cool!
fashion and farming… I guess it’s the way a lot of people in the industry have found to keep themselves grounded and not get lost in the superficiality that can be one of the downfall of the industry, as wonderful as it can be and have the potential to be. Plus, these two things are not so different if you think about it, it’s all about making and nurturing something to live.

Love her simplistic style. Everything works with trainers (sneakers)! :)
