Out East
7 years ago by
Hello summer! As soon as the 4th of July hits here, I’m all about the sun, the beach, the seafood, the snoozing… And for New Yorkers, getting out of the city at every possible opportunity is pretty much a requirement.
We spent some time out East to kick off the summer with a few old friends (Hi Jessica Joffe!) and some new (can’t wait to introduce you to Quincy Davis, a surfer, a babe, and a real gem.) We’ll be sharing some stories over the next few weeks from sunny days in East Hampton, Sag Harbor, and Montauk, but in the meantime we wanted to share some of our favorite spots and things to do if you happen to find yourself joining a summer share or grabbing a last minute onefinestay rental with friends and family.
Shop: We’ve long been inspired by Cynthia Rowley’s colorful prints and patterns, but her Montauk store is the best for grabbing a new swimsuit, wetsuit (the best we’ve seen for women!), or Kookboard for getting hit by hitting the waves.

And our friends at goop have brought their pop-up, goop MRKT, to the Hamptons. The dreamy space has it all – wellness aids, home essentials, beach-party-ready dresses and beauty must-haves… Hang out in the garden after browsing to plan your next stop in town.

Eat: Eleven Madison Park’s Daniel Humm and Will Guidara are headed to East Hampton for the summer while their NYC doors are closed for the season. Expect lighter bites with local, fresh ingredients in a more casual setting, complete with picnic tables and games in the backyard. And rosé, lots of rosé.
EMP Summer House – 341 Pantigo Rd., East Hampton, NY 11937
Of course, when you’re seaside, you should take advantage of the locally produced cuisine and legendary establishments. Enter The Clam Bar. You’ll see it as you’re driving down the highway, and you’d be wise to pull to the side of the road, exit your vehicle, and indulge.
Clam Bar at Napeague – 2025 Montauk Hwy, Amagansett, NY 11930
Drink: For wine lovers, a trip to the Hamptons isn’t complete without a stop at Wölffer Estate Vineyards. Start your weekend at their Sunset Fridays – where it’s BYOB (bring your own blanket!) and you’ll snack on cheese and charcuterie while enjoying some of the best wine out of the East End.
Wölffer Estate Vineyards – 139 Sagg Road, Sagaponack, NY 11962
Sweat: A few of us at the Atelier (ok mostly me) are pilates obsessed and our new studio just so happens to share a location with New York Pilates, but Heather and her team have opened up out East for the second summer. So in between the rosé and lobster rolls you can get a solid workout in.
New York Pilates Montauk – 649 Montauk Highway, East Hampton, NY 11937
Chill: Our preferred method of out East accommodation is always a home. There’s nothing better than being able to relax in pure privacy and put yourself in the shoes bed of Hamptons residents. onefinestay launched in the Hamptons this summer with a collection of beautiful, eclectic homes to rent, some with amazing art collections included (like these paintings by Sydney Albertini) and private pools and beach access. Yes, the house we stayed in had it all.
Cook: Another benefit to renting a private home is being able to prepare your own meals with fresh, local ingredients from the local farmers market. Long Island is home to many amazing farms (remember Greg?) and we love a slow evening of preparing dinner at home. The best is meeting new friends on the beach and inviting them over for an impromptu BBQ, which we’ve done in the past with Ipek at our first ever team retreat.
Balsam Farms, 284 Town Ln, Amagansett, NY 11930
Nespresso, for introducing us to their new VertuoPlus machine, perfect for morning conversations over coffee ; THE OUTNET, for keeping us stylish and offering same-day shipping to the Hamptons! ; Bumble and Bumble, for perfectly un-perfect beach hair, day-to-night.
*_* !!!
Everything is so perfect, especially the beach, it’s so clear.
