I got this red Tom Ford lipstick for a photo shoot I was working on a few days ago and I fell so totally hard for the packaging.
I wanted to get a picture of it before I even thought about trying it on and having my lips forever erase the two letters engraved on the tip.
Aaaaaannnnh, Toooom !!!
And plus it smells so darn good. This lipstick is a full sensory experience in and of itself.
Fetishize much?
I dunno, but one thing’s for sure, when it comes to make up, packaging makes up like… 70% of my impulse to buy. Okay, maybe even more…
With my beauty products it was much of the same, but I’ve stopped since then. I have a huge proclivity for natural products in amazing packages with the scent of essential oils that are to die for (well hello Aesop, nice to meet you Kiehl’s) but I’ve stopped with all that since my dermatologist said that essential oils can compromise my skin.
Since then, I’ve started using products you can find at the pharmacy that are all packaged nice and ugly. But my skin is delighted, so…
Back to make up. I know that the price rarely determines the quality. A few of my favorite lipsticks are from L’Oréal. I love Maybelline mascaras and I’ve always been a big fan of the Bourgeois blushes.
It’s not the price that determines the quality, but it’s definitely the price that determines the packaging. My favorite packaging is by Guerlain (Aaaaaah, powder all in gold?!), Armani (lipstick with a magnetic closer… sublime AND magical), Chanel, YSL…
You know, when I’m armed with some crazy cool packaging, I have no problem whipping out my powder or lipstick in public. :-)

I’m afraid I’m often a make-up snob aswell, but sometimes these packages are little pieces of art and I can’t resist. But in general I do buy brands like Maybelline and Bourgeois more often, simply because they are much more affordable and very good aswell

Chanel Chanel Chanel because of the packaging, and the little black and white Chanel shopping bag it comes in, and the échantillons, and the COLORSSS.
My real weakness are their nail polishes: the quality is far inferior to say essie or OPI, but I just can’t resist the colors! an the bottle.
But let’s not limit this discussion to make up – I choose my milk, my water, my yogurt, my eggs, my candles, my BOOKS, my toothpaste – 70% based on packaging. Shamelessly. And packaging for small products like this – in supermarkets for example – is something that I’ve noticed European brands pay much more attention to than in the US.
Just like you, I’m a victim of packaging. Have you seen the Dolce & Gabbana eyeshadow gold packaging? I instantly fell in love with it. Alhough I’m not using eyeshadow at all :-)
Then I have to deal with a lot of allergies. That’s why, in the end, I go for MAC. The most basic packaging, the fairest compromise between quality and price.

Agree on the Tom Ford lipstick….I would be hard pressed to erase the gorgeous letter impressions myself. You’ve reminded me of the first time I ever had a lipgloss from an ‘enviable’ brand…it was Chanel. I would whip out the black wand and flutter those gold CCs about. It felt glamourous. (Didn’t hurt that the gloss was gorgeous and had just the right amount of shimmer and shine and longevity.)
But for the rest, as my friend declares, “Non credo in Dio….credo in Dior.”

C’est clair que je peux me faire avoir avec juste le packaging. Mais, ça ne me dérange pas du tout de sortir sans maquillage, qu’on voit mes petits défauts. En revanche, je ne sors jamais sans un peu de rouge à lèvres. C’est comme si j’étais nue. J’aime beaucoup ceux de Guerlain et de Lancôme. Au retour des beaux jours (et quelquefois en hiver), je mets toujours un écran total pour éviter d’avoir des petites tâches. C’est un conseil que m’avait donné mon dermato pour préserver ma peau lorsque j’étais encore dans l’âge ingrat et ses réjouissances. J’en prend un qui est légèrement teinté et ça me donne tout de suite bonne mine.

Have a great crush on the Tom Ford lipsticks, so far have about six. The packaging is superb and I love the colour ranges as well (think I have the one in your fabulous picture). Also they feel wonderful on the lips, very smooth and moisturising. Having worn the TF lipsticks for some months now I find it hard to go back to my other brands.
I’m a total makeup snob too! Though honestly, I’m also incredibly faithful to my Maybelline Full n- Soft mascara and my Revlon liquid eyeliner. But for the rest, my favorites would be Burberry, Armani and Nars. Yes, of course, I have products from other lines (makeup whore? what? own so much makeup there’s no possible way to rationalize it? me? well, yes, I guess so…), but those are the lines that get me really really excited. Anything Burberry especially right now just makes me feel like I’m living at the heights of luxury! Pretty good feeling to be able to buy for $25 if you ask me…

They must be all natural and organic because whatever one puts on the skin is absorbed by the body.
Why would anyone settle for a beautiful package of poison..no matter how stunning it may be, it is still poison, right?

I choose it by my skin type, which is oily, and by reviews, and of course by my skin tone and style. I need long lasting, water proof makeup. I read reviews to determine textures and what really lasts. My style is “natural” and for night time I like a dramatic eye. I stick to the same color palette: black eyeliner and mascara; browns and golds and creams, and occasionally plums, on my eyes; Nars Orgasm blush; and a range of berry colored lip products. I am always on the lookout for anti-aging, water proof, long last, lip plumping products.
Ado et du style BCBG, je craquais mes précieuses économies dans des marques de luxe (Chanel, YSL…), juste pour avoir le plaisir de faire bader mes copines avec mon dernier fard à joue…!
Maintenant, mes produits de soin sont à l’image de mes produits d’entretien pour carrelage… Moches mais efficace! Ils sont donc planqués au fin fond de mon placard, derrière toute ces choses dont on ne peut se séparer, mais qui nous sont indispensables (le vieux jogging d’un ex, les vieilles chaussettes-culottes-soutifs tous décousus…(Euuuhhh?!))!
Pour le make-up, ma peau fragile et sensible m’oblige aussi à faire beaucoup de concessions niveau packaging… ERF!
J’ai donc trouvé une solution miracle : JE FABRIQUE MOI-MÊME MON MAQUILLAGE! Ne portant que du mascara et de l’eye-liner, c’est on ne peut plus simple! Pour les flacons, il suffit de choisir le flacon que l’on souhaite sur internet et HOP… Ma salle de bain ressemble à celle de Dita Von Teese!
C’est beau comme tout, bon pour ma peau (quelques pigments et composants naturels) (et pour mon porte-monnaie) et en plus… Je continue à faire bader mes copines!

I usually just go with my gut! Haha But seriously, I always say that it’s better to invest on quality make up than get rashes from the cheaper ones that don’t really treat your skin well. I have Maybelline for the mascaras (I have two!) and I love my dark red lipstick from Maxfactor!

On est toujours mieux (chic, élégante…) en “packaging” de grandes marques “Tom Ford”, “Armani”, “Chanel”… etc. Les lignes sont pures et belles mais notre banquier nous massacre!!
Parfois un bon H&M ou Zara (Maybelline ou Loréal) fait tout autant d’effet qu’une grande marque!!
Et encore, on se sent souvent mieux dans un bon vieux trainning, même si le “packaging” n’est plus de “follaïe” comme tu dis c”est tellement plus confortable!
C’est comme pour les bons produits de pharmacie!

Nice post! And for me it has to be Chanel. I don’t wear makeup most of the time, but I’ll go crazy for the Chanel lipsticks and their nail polish (even as someone else mentioned, they’re really not as great as some of the $8 brands).
My mom got me the Christmas pouch with the lip glosses and I just love it! I feel so classy when I whip out those little tubes.
I think it’s not honest for someone to say that they don’t care about those sort of things ever, and that they’re “beyond” that, because everyone is attracted to aesthetics one way or another. Whether it has to do with buying makeup or buying a cellphone or laptop.
I am the complete opposite of a makeup snob. I’m quite conscious of skin care products like face washes, toners, creams and things like that, but when it comes to makeup, I usually just wear lipstick, and I usually just buy what’s on sale.
My husband always says I should invest more in better products, and I’m sure he’s right, but mah, I’d rather just take care of my skin, than be too concerned about the cosmetic stuff – literally and figuratively.

Pour être originale, je vais dire que je suis un peu comme toi. Quand il s’agit de la peau, je suis obligée d’aller en pharmacie ou de prendre des produits que ma peau fragile et sensible de rousse (alors que je suis café au lait…je ne reviendrai pas sur le sujet…) tolère depuis des années.
Pour la maquillage par contre, moi ce n’est pas le packaging qui m’appâte mais l’égérie sur la photo. Plus belle elle sera & plus vite je me retrouverai à la caisse carte de crédit à la main (avec le doux espoir de me transformer en cette créature, photoshopée ma foi, mais jolie comme je rêve de le devenir)….
A vrai dire, vu que j’en suis au confession, je pensait qu’il n’y avait que le maquillage qui me faisait cet effet là, mais je dois avouer que j’ai présenté les même symptômes pour l’achat de mon avant dernier parfum. Alors que j’avais terimée ma bouteille de Cinéma (le parfum que je porte toute l’année depuis qu’il est en vente – crush absolu ai fait pas possession, ma marque déposée, une fusion de nos deux personnalités – à tel point que tous ceux qui me connaissent & le respire quelque part se mettent hurler mon nom ….je te dis pas ). Bref, il a fallu que je tombe sur cette splendide affiche de Miss Dior avec Nathalie Portman (que j’aime d’amour) pour faire des infidélités à mon parfum. J’ai senti le Miss Dior, je n’aimais pas tant quand ça…mais une petite voix intérieur m’a convaincue que j’apprendai à apprécier. La bouteille décore ma salle de bain. Après 2 jours, je suis revenue à mes premières amours….

Well, I completely agree with you. I fall in love with the packaging and that’s why I buy most of my make up ussually. Talking bout brands I love Chanel, always minimalist and good products, specially lipstick and nail polish and also Benefit. I think they’re my favourite but there’re some products I nevet get tired of. I always buy the same terracota, the same mascara… I never change them! nor even the brand :)

My skin is supersensitive and all I use is a mild danish bar from Urtekram (even on my hair!) and Vanicream (which I make friends bring me from the States, it´s wonderful), both totally boring. And my only makeup (to beat the shine) is powder. The best powder for me (texture and colour) is super cheap Rimmel Stay Matte, which is packaged in the cheapest plastic container ever, no mirror or anything. I so wish it made sense to pay for something more estethetically pleasing, but I suppose it´s a strange complaint to make when I can spend my money on expensive scarves instead…
Ah, sadly my all time favorite makeup brand went out of business some years ago – Prescriptives. Lately, I’ve been very into NARS lipsticks and glosses.

Moi j’utilise de tout selon le prix, le moment, le besoin. Donc, je n’ai pas nécéssairement besoin de grandes marques.
Parcontre, l’hiver passé, je me suis achetée une robe incroyable du designer Denis Gagnon, complètment indescriptible bien que étonamment classique. Elle est en jersey blanc à rayures noires horizontales et il n’y a pas lieu de porter des bijoux avec. Le seul bijou obligatoire; un rouge à lèvres de la mort.
Je l’ai cherché longtemps et je l’ai trouvé. Il s’agit d’un rouge coco de Chanel. Pour moi c’est le rouge Gabrielle que j’ai choisi. Le rouge absolu, parfait.

Tout à fait d’accord. Le packaging du maquillage a clairement un coté fétichiste ou rituel très fort. Evidemment, s’il n’est pas de qualité, je ne le prends pas, mais si en plus il est beau, c’est top.
Je craque toujours pour les éditions limitées de Clarins, ils sont superbe!
Complètement d’accord on achète aussi le packaging.
Et justement en parlant de packaging, suis complètement fan des produits Benefit, ils sortent vraiment des sentiers battus. Mais en terme de produits, je suis devenue totalement addict aux produits Shu Uemura…(qui malheureusement coûtent une tonne).

Alors j’ai deux types de make-up:
un super qualité et pas cher que je met chez moi et un rouge a lèvre super beau et plus cher dans mon sac. J’aime bien le nouveau dior lipstick et un lancome rouge.

et hop en dinars pas en devise ( concept arabo arabe de changement de dinars en euros … et oui vivre dans un pays ou la monnaie n’est pas convertible ET où on te limite le nombre d’€ a sortir du territoire … bref en voyage tu calcules … un Rouge ou une petite Terasse … hum!)
donc en dinars ce petit bijoux de lèvres coûtes … euuuh c indécent ! mais je fume pas, j’ai pas d’abonnement en salle de sport … et voilà c mon craquage a moi …

Petit plus qui fait toute la différence (testé 2 fois, oui que 2, en plus j’y fais gaffe) et bien c le SEUL, je dis bien LE SEUL RAL qui ne fait pas les petites stries désagréables de fin de soirées … tu sais l’auréole autour de la bouche … oui c’est comme ça que j’ai justifié son prix :) !!

Je suis comme toi! je m’extasie devant le packaging de (presque) tous mes produits de beauté! et j’ai toujours mal au coeur quand j’en entame un neuf… C’est tellement dommage de l’abimer, que ce soit le rouge à lèvres, ou les fards à paupières ou à joues…
Mais c’est toujours un plaisir! J’aime beaucoup les packaging Chanel, Dior, Lancôme, et bien d’autres… J’achète souvent les nouveautés, ou alors juste parce que le packaging me plait! J’ai une tonne de maquillage et j’utilise généralement les mêmes produits :(

Le rouge G de Guerlain. Cet écrin argent qui s’ouvre sur un miroir, et vous avez immédiatement tous les regards de la salle qui se tournent vers vous. Un peu encombrant, certes, mais tellement élégant ! un must pour moi.

Pour les produits de beauté, à près de 32 ans, après de longues et très coûteuses errances côté la Prairie et autres, je me suis forcée à revenir vers quelques basiques: une crème hydratante Nivea ne donne pas autant de plaisir qu’une Kenzoki mais est tout aussi efficace. J’ai aussi arrêté le savon Clinique au profil d’un spray d’eau thermal.
Pour le make up çà dépend. Grosso modo c’est un mélange expérience personnelle réussie et de conseils collectés sur les blogs (zéro influence des magazines féminins, leurs articles sont d’un vide abyssal sur le sujet et complètement biaisés).
– les ombres à paupières: Urban Decay à cause des palettes, de la qualité des fards et du rapport qualité/prix qui le vaut bien. J’y suis arrivée par les blogs.
– le mascara: Diorshow. Même pas à cause du packaging, juste parce que je trouve que ce mascara est une tuerie et que je suis affreusement routinière. Ca doit faire 5-6 ans au moins que je l’utilise (les tests avec d’autres mascaras ne m’ont pas convaincu). En plus il est parfumé ^^. Expérience personnelle réussie, après avoir testé je ne sais combien d’autres mascaras sur le marché.
– le teint: la BB cream Erborian. C’était la première sur le marché français et elle me convient parfaitement. J’y suis arrivée par les blogs.
– la bouche: là je suis une vraie girouette, mais je prends toujours des grandes marques. Je suis conseillée, je peux les essayer etc. Alors qu’en supermarché les conditions sont très différentes. Et pourtant mon RàL préféré était un Bourgeois.
– les ongles: j’avoue… je collectionne les Chanel (même en connaissant la moindre qualité des vernis, même s’ils s’améliorent, ceux développés ces deux dernières années s’ôtent très facilement au dissolvant par exemple) et pire… je les aligne fièrement sur une étagère (bientôt 2) de la salle de bains. J’avais commencé par le Rouge Noir que je renouvellais régulièrement et maintenant je dois avoir une vingtaine de teintes différentes. C’est 80% de l’effet de mode et 20% de la collectionnite aiguë (en plus Chanel ne change pas son packaging tous les ans, donc tous les vernis alignés sont au même format).

On m’offert derniérement le mascara “Shock ” de YSL, pfff… waou!!! Mon buget ne me permet d’acheter ce type de produit donc je peux t’assurer que je l’utilise avec parcimonie ahah! Je l’adore et mes cils aussi! :p
Sinon, j’ai ma préférence pour les produits maybelline et Black’up, tant au niveau de qualité que des teintes proposées, je suis noire c’est hyper important surtout les fondsde teint et les blushs (on va éviter de ressembler au mime marceau hein! :p)
Ton rouge à lèvres TF sent trop bon? Aaaah j’ai envie de sentir ça! C’est la même odeur que le parfum?

J’aime beaucoup MAC pour leurs rouges à lèvres et leurs fards à paupières. Comme je suis maquilleuse studio, j’ai l’habitude de travailler avec ces produits et j’aime beaucoup les textures ( surtout les fards crèmes ) que j’utilisent pour moi et pour travailler.
Sinon, Chanel pour les vernis à ongles, clinique pour les mascaras ( je suis allergique à tout sauf à clinique ), Shu uemura pour les fards à paupières ( de vrais pastels ), la terracota n°1 de Guerlain pour l’été et les fonds de teint MAC, Yves saint Laurent et Armani.
Et je ne peux pas me séparer de ma pince à recourber les cils de chez Shu Uemura ( la meilleure ).

Lol! Loved reading your perspective on this. I am a college student, so I’m not exactly rolling in $$$. That said, I find I can make my skin look beautiful without spending that much. I wash my face at least once a day, give myself the occasional at-home facials, and moisturize like a MAD MAN. I think I may be addicted to moisturizing. Either way, my skin looks beautiful.
My embarrassing confession is that sometimes (is there a word for between sometimes and often?) i go to the tanning salon!

I love lists, so there you go Garance and other girls, hope I give you some good ideas:
Lipstick: Dior is to die for. The quilted pacakging and the most charming shades of red ever.
Lip gloss: Lustre glass by MAC. Lovely colours and easy to apply. In this sense I also love a certain Sisley gloss I bought out of pure coincidence at an airport.
Eyeshadows: My faovurite 5 (or more) combo packs include the Bronze Godess of Estee Lauder, the spring edition of YSL and all (yes all) Dior 5-ply sets. I never buy mono’s since I blindly trust the experts to fo the combinations for me. I also like Chanel quads but I think they are too expensive.
Mascara: The make-up artist I trust the most, who has done miracles to my face, uses only Maybelline mascaras. So do I.
Blush: I am devoted to Chanel
Eyeliner: I go crazy for the liquid pen of YSL
Foundation: The miracle of Lancome is absolutely to die for.
So, that’s about it. However, I got a few more extras:
The YSL correction pen: I use it evereywhere and it mingles perfectly with my foundation
Shiseido sun-screen compact foundation: The perfect thing for summer. No oil whatsoever.
Gosh products in general. More economic and absolutely crazy with colour combinations. I love them.
Last but not least: Les meteorites de Guerlain!!!
J’utilise aussi beaucoup de produits qui viennent de la para. Ma peau les adore, je ne peux pas dire non. Du coup, je me fais (vraiment) plaisir avec le maquillage.
Je succombe assez facilement à Guerlain, justement parce que j’adore le packaging des produits, et qu’ils sont aussi de bonne qualité.
Par exemple, j’aime beaucoup la qualité des produits M.A.C, mais pas leur packaging, du coup, je suis moins tentée.
Je choisi mon maquillage en fonction de mon humeur.

I’ve always been a sucker for Chanel. I’ve tons of black and gold and a little silver packages. Guerlain is also one of my favorites but right at this moment I loooove Yves Saint Laurent make-up. A luxurious ’70’s feeling, o la laaaa. ….And the colours!
My at this moment -mascara ‘Shocking’ smells lovely and is very, very good! The eyeshadows and and the lipsticks, like velvet on my eyes and lips with a lot of colour. I’t’s pricey but it’s worth it.
Chanel sometimes dissapoints me, especially the eyeshadows…
Chanel Inimitable Noir and Brown mascara are also longterm favorites.
Only the YSL package of some lipsticks are a bit kitschy. But the formal, gold ones are chique!
But I also like some of the Weleda products and a loooot of Avène. The last one is supergood and the packages are okay.
Nivea is a big no no pour moi. I’ve once read that Marilyn Monroe got a hairy face from using it too long…

Je suis comme toi, pharmacie pour les soins. Mais le Make-up, j’avoue, je craque plus sur les beaux emballages que les produits eux-mêmes (sauf le fond de teint, Shiseido)… Guerlain, Chanel, c’est si joli sur ma “coiffeuse” (comprendre petite table trouvée dans une brocante) !
Ma dernière trouvaille ? Le “Nécessaire de Beauté” de Serge Lutens… peu de produits, mais aux formes inconnues ailleurs, sans logo, laqués noirs, graphiques, sublimes. Si tu ajoutes que les rouges à lèvres sont à tomber, la poudre pressée inégalable de légèreté, les crayons magiques… OK, pas sûre qu’on trouve plus cher ;) mais tout de même, quel plaisir de se faire offrir un bel objet de temps en temps.
Snob aussi, j’avoue.

ECOUTEZ!!!!! These lipsticks costs a bloody fortune but are the absolute best and trust me I’ve tried them alllll!!!!! They will however last a long time if you use a lipstick brush as they are highly pigmented.
PS- These lipsticks tubes used to be white not black- not sure why the color was changed?
il y avait Stéphane Marais qui faisait du make up de folie avec des packagings incroyables, je garde quelques vestiges…. Le packaging a surement une petite influence, mais en général ce qui m’influence le plus ce sont les expériences de mes amies ou un produit que j’aime bien sur quelqu’un (pas une photo d’affiche, mais quelqu’un de réel). Ou alors les démonstrations en magasin ou les tutorials de blogs. Reste après à voir si le produit me convient à moi ou pas et là des fois je me suis trompée dans mes achats (parfois dispendieux). J’ai longtemps été fidèle au fonds de teint poudre de Bare minerals (plus maintenant, mon teint ne les supporte plus) et pour le mascara à Maybelline bien sur (là je teste celui de Benefit qui a l’air pas mal si on cherche un effet plus sensationnel).
Pour les parfums je me pourrai jamais en acheter un juste pour le flacon.
Pour les produits de beauté, c’est comme toi, des moches mais qui marchent bien, achetés en pharmacie :)
Et pour le rouge à lèvres? Désolée, je n’en mets jamais…

I’m not sure they’d pass muster with your dermatologist (she sound strict!) but I love them, especially the Vitamin C serum.
At first, I thought the packaging was too large on this product, then i bought Pink Dusk and changed my mind. I LOVE IT! This shade is soooooo pretty and the bonus with Tom Ford- the product is excellent. You are right about the scent AND my lips feel soft after wearing this brand. I love good packaging, but the product has to live up tot the expectations… isnt it horrible wheen the packaging is lovely, and the product stinks??? makes me sad.

Après des sommes folles dépensées dans le make up luxe je cible intelligent:
– MAC pour les yeux
-OPI/Essie pour les ongles
-Avène pour le teint
– et luxe ponctuellement pour un vrai bon produit ou un hameçonnage de Vogue !
du coup, les package sont peut-être moins chouettes mais le make up, lui, s’en porte mieux !
Waaaaaaah! Trop beau ce rouge à lèvre! Moi je ne me maquille pas beaucoup, fond de teint chanel (perfection lumière, hihihi, un peu de pub…), un peu d’eyeliner Revlon de temps en temps et pleeeeeeeeeeins de rouges à lèvres de touuuuuutes les couleurs, j’adoooooooooore ça! Alors là, les marques, peu importe..YSL, Guerlain, L’oréal, Yves Rocher, Revlon et pleins d’autres.

Well! Price does make a difference in quality! Indeed it does! At least to a certa in point! I was immediately charmed by the luxurious feeling and beauty of shades, and velvety feeling of TF beauty! I am converting all my make-up! But lipsticks…Serge Lutens!

J’aime les rouges à lèvres MAC rayon mat, les couleurs sont intenses. La texture est très agréable, et le packaging est très sobre. Pour le reste, je n’utilise que des produits bio, donc pas très glamour mais qui s’avèrent très efficaces.
I love anything that smells nice! And for face products, it just so happens that they tend to be natural products. Caudalie! Clarks Botanicals! But I also love SK-II (which doesn’t have much smell) cuz I think those products work wonders…esp the eye cream!
For makeup, I love Chanel powder because of the sleek compact and great smell. I love Deborah Lipmmann polishes for her cool colours and super high shine finishes. Doesn’t hurt that her bottles are pretty too ;)

I used to be the same, but somewhere along the line I realised that Mac suits me best, so all the makeup is from them (not very nice packaging but the smell is great). Other than that, I use only natural products, mostly a detergent-free cleanser and alpha/beta hydroxy stuff, vitamin A,C,E, the simpler the better. But the firm I was using closed down in the recession, so I am on my last few drops of those serums. I have no idea what I’m going to do when it runs out…
The classic gold case of Estee Lauder lipstick brings back so many memories of my childhood as it was my mother’s lipstick of choice. I don’t put on make-up in public so the packaging doesn’t matter, but with lipstick it is a different story… YSL and Chanel being my fav packaging!!! So one day… :)
I’ve got a Chanel and Max Factor lipstick in pink and red that I love the most! For the rest I simply use Chanel mascara, bronzing powder, and some eyeliner…

Voilà, et puis au passage : mille merci pour le nom de ta dermato, elle m’a sauvé d’une mort épidermique quasi certaine il y a 15 jours et m’a concoctée une petite lotion sur mesure, depuis ma peau rayonne ! Bref, j’avais déjà une bonne idée de tout ce que les blogs pouvaient apporter mais là j’ai encore été bluffée, j’ai trouvé la dermato de mes rêves, la dermato de Garance (LA CLASSE quoi) !

Tom Ford is my favourite red lipstick! Although I could be biased because it was my wedding lipstick. Like you, I didn’t want to get rid of the “TF” on the tip but my makeup artist on the day just smooshed the hell out of it and it is gone forever! *sniff* I guess I’ll just have to buy another colour ;)

OH that one looks lovely! We don’t have Tom Ford here, but I would try one if I find one somewhere. I like Chanel. And Armani. But Chanel is best, I like package, the texture, the story behind it. Most of all I guess its the package.. I would never buy a Dior or Guerlain, cos I don’t like how they look. I just stick Chanel, its easy that way.
En effet ce rouge est particulièrement chic ! Personnellement je suis aussi attirée par les packaging la marque benefit par exemple en propose des supers :) mais j’avoue faire attention au prix également ! En tout cas complètement d’accord avec ce post !

comme toi Garance j’ai le make-up snob, et j’ai souvent cosntaté que les makes up cheap n’ont pas les mêmes textures et puis j’aime teeellement les packagings !!! après, moi aussi j’écoute ce que me dit la dermato et j’ai aussi des tubes moches mais efficaces pour tout ce qui est soin de la peau mais je ne résiste pas à l’envie de me faire plaisir avec de beaux produits….. finalement la cosméto c’est un peu comme l’alimentation, il ne faut pas se frustrer LOL

J’ai découvert récemment les produits CG Bigelow et j’adore tout leur packaging. Leur travail sur la typographie est typiquement américain ; je crois d’ailleurs qu’on peut reconnaître le pays qui se cache derrière un emballage.
Du côté français, j’adore la petite boîte ronde “Crème abricot” de Dior, négligemment posée sur ma table de nuit pour m’enduire le soir de cette texture bien collante !
Sur mon bureau, à côté de mon clavier d’ordinateur, le très beau pot “Crème à la rose pour les mains” de Ladurée.
Et puis l'”Huile splendide vitalisante” d’Annick Goutal…

Only wear Lancôme mascara, it lasts a long time, other brands dry out too fast and get clumpy…not worth it. Only wear OPI nail polish. Tried Chanel on Saturday and it was chipped by Tuesday :-( Back to OPI :D

Ah tiens ça me fait penser (même si tu ne liras peut-être jamais ce commentaire, vu que tu croules sous les chemises en jeans mais aussi sous les commentaires), que je tiens ABSOLUTELY à te remercier, et donc à remercier indirectement ta dermato! Depuis 2 mois j’ai décidé d’arrêter de suivre les conseils de la mienne: exit l’eau, exit les crèmes antiboutons/pores dilatés/teint terne et j’en passe, et j’ai pris les mêmes produits que ceux conseillés par la tienne (de dermato). Résultat: je n’ai jamais vu ma peau aussi lumineuse, presque parfaite et hydratée!!! Merci merci merci mille fois!
Comme quoi tu devrais lancer ta marque de chemise, mais aussi devenir conseillère en dermatologie, bref t’as de l’avenir :-)
I am a makeup snob! I love Chanel. It is clean, simple, reliable brand, and it meet my needs. Sure I stray…Guerlain khol powder liner, Dior mascara, Cle de Peau Beaute lipstick at times, but Chanel meet all my needs and help maintain a more natural, but chic look.
If you wanted to know about skin care, it would be La Prairie, Embryolisse, Avene. Finding good quality sun protection that feels nice on your skin is very difficult. For now, it is La Roche-Posay.
I LIVE for red lipsticks! I’m such a fan! I have tried many shades and many brands. So many of them bleed and for a red this is a big time ‘no-no.’ So finally one day I went into Sephora and said, “I want a red lipstick that won’t bleed and I won’t have to wear a lipliner.” One doesn’t always have time for liner, you know. The lady had that “take charge” quality about her that I like as she said, “Follow me!” She showed me Nars. I love the art deco feel to the packaging, so that sold me since it fits well with my style. Then I looked at the colors. Glorious! I chose the color Red Lizard and 4 years later I am still using it. It is the best I’ve every had!
Alors grande question le make-up… J’avoue que je suis aussi une fille qui ne peut résister à un beau packaging ! Mes it du moment :
– Le mascara Eyes to Kill waterproof d’Armani waterproof (ben oui, bientôt la plage) tout en métal gravé qui pèse au bas mot le poids d’un âne mort mais qui fait des cils subliiiiiiiimes et qui est vraiment trop beau, une vraie arme de destruction massive d’hommes ;)
– Le Rouge G de Guerlain que j’ai failli me faire confisquer à JFK (oui monsieur, c’est bien un rouge à lèvres, vous voyez il est tout en métal avec le miroir intégré et tout et tout…non ça ne mettra pas en péril la nation américaine je vous assure) très pratique, avec des couleurs qui renvoie la lumière et fait les lèvres douces mais douces…
– Le nouveau blush Hervana de Benefit “enough to make an angel blush” =)

Oui c’est indispensable que le packaging soit BEAU sinon la vie quotidienne est triste… mon make-up bag sonia rykiel -cuir noir intérieur violet-est toujours dans mon sac et contient mes essentiels (j’ai failli les poster dans ton post précédent à ce sujet):
-un lipbalm bio (surtout pas en stick moche, plutôt jolie boite rétro)
-une crème pour les mains format gouache de l’Occitane
-mes lipsticks préférés (esthée lauder, Chanel, YSL et …Tom Ford)
-ma poudre compacte (guerlain dorée ou Giorgio Armani toute noire chic)
-un petit peigne en corne pour recoiffer ma frange
-un parfum concret de Dyptique (petite boite noire arrondie sublime)
ça me fait plaisir juste de regarder tous ces beaux objets somme toute abordables. Avant d’acheter, je pense toujours à ce que j’ai déjà et si ça va aller avec… un peu comme on choisit ses vêtements !
ps: ça m’énerve un peu qu’on assimile toujours l’esthétisme au snobisme. je veux dire merde, je ne gagne pas beaucoup d’argent mais je préfère économiser, puis claquer à -20% (cartes sephora ou marionnaud) pour avoir un bel objet, que d’acheter un truc hideux. car après tout on vit avec les objets, pourquoi devraient-ils être laids sous prétexte qu’ils ne sont pas chers ? et pourquoi ça voudrait dire être snob ?
I’m probably the opposite of a makeup snob – I wear makeup but I’m really not that interested in it, so I resent having to pay for it. I wear L’Oreal, Maybelline, Maxfactor, Urban Decay, that sort of thing. But most days I only wear powder, brow pencil and eyeliner. It would make sense to invest in those things, but I’d much rather spend my money on other things!
Performance always trumps packaging ultimately! But the TF lipsticks are nice and creamy!
It’s off topic, but can I ask what photographic equipment you use? Your photos are always so luminous! :-)
I like packaging by Guerlain. Each is like a piece of art.
But I also use pharmacies brands like Avene. Packaging from Avene are just white and simple
and but the way my maskara ist Maybelline too ;)

Je suis pareille avec le make-up ! Si je pouvais me le permettre, je collectionnerais les produit Chanel et Nars !
Concernant les produits de beauté, je privilégie le soin… mais si le packaging est super beau c’est encore mieux! Ms je suis fan d’avène, de lancome et de clarins… et lush.
Pour le maquillage, je ne peux pas me passer de mascara et je suis accroc au phenomen eyes de Givenchy avec sa boule pour étirer et n’oublier aucun cil. Difficile d’utiliser autre chose, une fois qu’on a une nouvelle façon de se maquiller les cils. J’aime benefit et urban decay pour les couleurs de ses fard à paupière… et la palette fred farrugia modulable. Pour les lèvres, rien de mieux, qu’un rouge Coco de Chanel.
MAIS c’est déjà pas mal tout çà !!!
