A Beauty Minute With Ashley Math
9 years ago by
Morning: I wash my hair every morning with Aveeno Sulphate Free shampoo and conditioner. I then work a drop of Moroccan Argan Oil into the ends of my hair, it smells amazing and brings out the natural shine, giving a little extra hydration to the tips. Coconut oil is a magical ingredient as well. When my hair feels really dry and tired, I’ll put raw coconut oil into my hair and let it absorb. Amazing! I never blow dry my hair. My body wash and lotion is Aesop Geranium Leaf Body Balm & Cleanser.
For my face, I adjust the shower temperature to lukewarm and wash with Burt’s Bees Deep Hydration Face Wash. From there, I use Dr. Hauschka’s Day Cream to moisturize, then Dr. Hauschka Eye Balm. If I need an extra boost, I apply Aesop’s B Triple C Facial Balancing Gel. Genius product, especially before & after a flight.
I have always had combination skin, so oil-based products work to actually combat oily skin without drying it out, helping my skin stay balanced.
Day: I wear little to no make up on a daily basis, with the exception of Almay Color Match spot concealer when needed. I feel stronger and more beautiful without layers of paint on my face. That said, I do love a bit of Dior dark brown eye liner and black mascara.
What helps me feel and look my best is always WATER. In the winter, I drink hot water with lemon religiously. In the warmer months, my husband is in charge of the cold water jug filled with fresh mint, cucumber and lime.
Night: I wash my face with lukewarm water, never hot, and use Burt’s Bees Deep Hydration Night Wash, Moisturizer, and Eye Balm. Nine hours of sleep (not easy) is a secret weapon.”

love the fresh faced, sans makeup look; after my own heart and my own regimen
Love the picture! She looks really calm and thoughtful.
I love the idea of going bare during the day, and would love to do it more, but I’m so worried about the sun! I use my foundation during the day as a light sunscreen because all the actual sunscreens I’ve found have been very oily and clogged my pores.
Any suggestions for a light sunscreen that will let my skin breath, won’t clog pores, and will let me go foundation free?
Aesop’s Sage & Zinc SPF Hydrator is awesome! I use it and it’s super lightweight and good for every day
I recommend Vichy 50 SPF mattifying face fluid dry touch, it’s for combination to oily sensitive skin. Works for me perfectly!
Try Japanese sunscreens. You can order from ebay or Amazon or directly from Rakuten. I like Biore Aqua rich watery essence sunscreen in the light blue tube. It feels like nothing but is SPF 50. For something more substantial feeling I like Japanese Nivea sun protect plus UV skin UV cream. These sunscreens will change your life. European sunscreens are years behind the Japanese for elegance and innovation.
Lovely post.

I love her beauty routine, it sounds a lot like mine! I also like to wear little make up as it makes me feel refreshed. And her skin is sublime! proof that less is more.
Ashley, just a question: do you use SPF protection? If so, which one? I also have oily skin and it’s hard to find something that works for me, hence I avoid it, but in the summer I must as I have quite a fair skin colour… ideas?
Just wanted to chime in here as it sounds like we have similar skin types — combination-to-oily, SUPER sensitive, and thus acne prone (fun times!) — and as a Florida girl, I’ve tried everything and nothing works as wonderfully as elta MD UV clear SPF 46. It keeps my skin smooth and clear and sunburn-free, and I notice my skin isn’t as healthy if I skip this sunscreen for even a day or two. I tried using CeraVe face sunscreen as a cheaper drug store dupe, but nope! elta MD only, always, and forever.

I’m absolutely jealous of girls who could just ‘not wear any makeup’…….. I’ll look like an alien if I don’t ;(
