A beauty minute with Anna Gray
10 years ago by
Morning: After I’ve had coffee and walked my dog, I wash my face with CeraVe foaming facial cleanser, swipe Mario Badescu Special Cucumber Lotion over my face with a cotton pad and then moisturize with CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30. I just figured out how to curl my eyelashes so that’s pretty exciting – I didn’t know you had to tilt your head back…
I still use Maybelline Big Lash and if I feel like being fancy or have time, I’ll draw on a little L’Oréal liquid eyeliner in black – it makes my eyes look bigger. I’m a big proponent for drug store beauty products because when you find ones that actually work you feel like you’ve discovered an amazing, inexpensive secret.
I don’t do much with my hair. I wash it once a week with dandruff shampoo and try to sleep on it while it’s a little bit damp. Not wet though, then I look crazy. I’ll spritz Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray in it when it looks too flat. I also just learned how to curl my hair– lots of new things in the world of curl going on for me lately– but the waves never last long, even if I use hair spray. If anyone has a tip for making Asian hair hold a curl, let me know.
Day: I’m at the office all day so I keep Aesop hand balm and this Avalon Organics peppermint chap stick, that I found at Whole Foods, at my desk. I only bring make up with me if I have plans immediately after work and that usually consists of a Revlon lipstick– Hot Coral looks amazing when I’m tan– or a Nars Velvet Matte Pencil in Dragon Girl because, you know, I like dragons. Also, pretty sure the Dragon Girl color looks good on everyone ever. I paint my nails a lot because if I don’t then I will bite them. I switch between OPI in Alpine Snow and Essie in Blanc, one’s at work, one’s at home. I like the way white nail polish makes my hands look…tan.
Night: I take off my eye make up with some generic version of Neutrogena’s eye make up remover because I bought it accidentally and it still works. Then I wash with the CeraVe foaming cleanser, use the Mario Badescu toner and moisturize with the nighttime version of the CeraVe facial lotion. Once a week I’ll exfoliate with the Fresh Skin St. Ives Apricot Scrub and I really like to use Boscia masks once a week too. The white luminizing one and the black peel. I feel brand new after every use.”
Such a refreshing beauty…thanks for all this..

She’s lovely. I also <3 Nars Lip Pencils and white nails.

I love that her eyebrows look so undone, which is how mine look most of the time. Can’t tell if they’re feathered or she’s just grown them out.

I use CeraVe a.m. and p.m. too. They work better than the array of massively expensive stuff I’ve tried over the years and get bonus points because they were recommended by my dermatologist.
I can totally relate with the Asian hair not being able to keep a curl. :P She looks fresh, unmade, but really beautiful, and I think I’m gonna copy some of her beauty advice. Thanks for sharing!
She is lovely and young. I don’t think she needs any beauty advice yet!!
J’adore découvrir la routine beauté des autres! ;)

Une vrai beauté parisienne !!!
How wonderful it is to see the natural feminine beauty that is shown on this site. I came of age in the ’80s when women were plastered with makeup. I can no longer get away with literally no makeup but I roughly follow Lisa Eldridge’s YouTube routine for “No-Makeup Makeup”.
I also like the expression on her face…I recently worked with the public for several months and in scanning the ladies’ faces I realized (myself included) what terrible looks we tend to have on our faces as we rush throughout the day. As a result, I have tried to cultivate a look of “relaxed pleasantness” on my face, and smile whenever I can (so long as I don’t appear silly).
Great skin care routine so important.
So nice to see products that are affordable and effective! Thanks, Anna!
She’s a gorgeous girl and her beauty routine is pretty similar to mine! I feel her pain on the Asian hair not holding a curl – the only way I can get mine to stay put for an evening is to curl quite tightly and then hairspray the crap out of it! And even then by the end of the evening it’s usually graduated into loose waves as opposed to curls. x
This one is good. I too have my coffee, take the dog out, and, I think smart women buy inexpensive beauty products when the quality is still there.
Enfin une routine moins alambiquée et plus abordable. La qualité d’une peau n’est pas proportionnelle au prix des produits (ni à la quantité) qu’on y applique!

Finally someone who uses Cerave, our secret is out. The Cerave Line is amazing, the Day Creme…you can feel it working right away to tighten your skin. And it has a great SPF! I use the body creams, the eye cream everything. One of the best lines available in Drug Stores and Target. I love Cetaphil and Cerave. Amazing!
Definitely agree with her drug store philosophy!
