We have a beauty legend in our presence today. So thrilled to share this Beauty Minute from Joanna Vargas. She is a celebrity facialist, founder of Joanna Vargas Salons and Skin Care, and author of “Glow From Within.” She also happens to be one of Doré’s beauty crushes and we’ve taken many notes on her approach to skincare. Meet the lovely Joanna!

What is your morning beauty routine?

In the morning when I wake up, I wash my face with my Cloud Bar, which is soothing, calming and hydrating. After my shower, pre makeup, I’ll apply my Daily Serum, Rejuvenating Serum, Daily Hydrating Cream and some sunscreen. My Daily Serum is my green juice for the skin. It has hyaluronic acid and oat grass in it. It is hydrating without being too heavy. The Rejuvenating Serum combines my favorite oils to create a perfect blend of soothing, hydrating oils to make you look glow all day. I couldn’t live without it.

I like using my Magic Glow Wand during this application for about 10 mins on the last setting, cold plus massage, so I can de-puff, contour and wake up my face. I even do it around the eyes because it’s lifting, especially on the lid. My Daily Hydrating Cream really helps keep they skin persistently dewy and is awesome for sensitive skin.

For my hair routine, I wash with Harklinikken Shampoo and Conditioner. It’s super hydrating and doesn’t bother my scalp.

Body I use my dry brush pre shower and after I hydrate with Dior Body Lotion in Sakura. I love the smell.

For vitamins, I do Morning Complete, which is a greens powder that I put in my berry/almond milk smoothie. I also put a gut health powder in the smoothie. Both are from a company called Activated You, which I love.

What skincare, haircare and makeup products do you use throughout the day and why?

For hair care, I only use Harklinikken, which is a great brand. They have scalp serums to help your hair growth and their leave-in conditioner is a must for curly hair like mine.

For makeup, I like to keep it simple. I use Ilia Serum Skin Tint on my skin because it’s super light and the texture is great for dehydrated skin. I also use their multi stick in Dusty Rose for some color on my cheeks. I use Kevyn Aucoin’s eyebrow pencil and SuperGoop! translucent powder with SPF 45 throughout the day for sun protection that I can reapply.

What is your evening beauty routine?

I never go to bed without washing my face! I use my Vitamin C Face Wash, which is a foaming exfoliating cleanser. I take my makeup off with that as well because I hate fussing with tons of products. I follow with my Supernova Serum, which is my retinol.

For hair, I usually put a Harklinikken hair mask into my hair at night for hydration.

For vitamins, I take Activated You probiotic and Love Wellness multivitamin. I also use Dr. Price Sleep Vites when I feel like I can’t unwind so that I can fall asleep.

I also put the Sarah Happ lip mask on before bed and some heavy duty hand lotion. Cerave is great.

What is your definition of beauty?

My definition of beauty is being confident, treating yourself with grace and making choices you feel boost that within you.

When do you feel most beautiful?

I feel most beautiful when my face is clean and I am fresh from the shower. I love seeing the skin fresh.

What is your no-excuses, bare minimum skincare necessities for all clients?

To me, the ultimate bare bones skin care kit is a simple, basic routine. I recommend a cleanser for every day, a retinol serum for night, a hyaluronic acid serum for day, sunscreen and an exfoliating scrub twice a week.
