Evereden

While on the hunt for safe skincare for a newly-pregnant friend, my criteria was pretty stringent and full of no-nos. No: sulfates, parabens, phthalates, natural irritants, synthetic fragrances, GMOs, or retinol. Cue: Evereden. Truth be told, I was initially struck by the adorable packaging. But once I dug a bit deeper into what the brand is all about, I was sold. Not just for my friend–but also for myself.

I’ll be the first to admit—I didn’t entirely understand the concept of ‘nutritional skincare’ before discovering Evereden. In short, it’s skincare that addresses short-term issues, but also improves the appearance and health of the skin over time. It’s much more than just skin-deep (pun intended).

The brand, backed by a team of female Ivy League dermatologists, swaps any harmful ingredients commonly found in skincare products with nutrient-dense botanical ingredients that restore and rejuvenate our largest organ: our skin. Evereden adheres to a higher standard for skincare, and with the help of their dermatologists, have created a ‘Never Ever’ list of 1,500 ingredients that they’ve banned from their products. This includes harsh chemicals and common allergens. Further, every single ingredient in their products has a top rating on EWG’s Skin Deep Database and is certified with MadeSafe.

I swiftly sent them to my friend and then placed an order myself. Among my favorites? Their best-selling Multi-Purpose Healing Balm—a natural alternative to Vaseline or Aquaphor that’s free of petroleum and silicone. It’s a salve for so many things: a remedy for chapped lips (and nipples for new moms!), minor cuts and scrapes, and is packaged in a convenient tube that you can pop in your bag and take with you on the go. The Lifting and Firming Lotion is a natural anti-aging solution with collagen, seaweed, and avocado extracts. The brand examples that these ingredients, in particular, lift and tighten the skin, while also improving skin elasticity. It’s rich, yet silky smooth and my new go-to. Last but not least, their Mineral Sunscreen has gotten a lot of attention, and for good reason. It’s downright impossible to find a natural sunscreen that doesn’t go on like cement. The formula took a year of research and development, to ensure that it was zinc oxide-based, but goes on nice and smooth. And, of course, since sunscreen isn’t just for summer – this nourishing ‘screen is perfect for everyday to protect against harmful, aging rays.
