Made By Hand

Amanda Shine is doing something that few people do today — she’s making something with her own hands. After a career in fashion, she’s returning to her childhood passion for ceramics with the launch of her new venture, The Setting.
We thought there was no better way to get immersed in her world than start at the beginning, at the wheel where Amanda creates the bowls, dishes and vases by hand, each one a bit unique (and can even be personalized!). It’s always inspiring to see a technique which lends itself to muddy waters, and splattered clothes turn into something so preciously individual and, really, perfect for any setting…
Having such a talent – is a true blessing!

Beautiful work of art creative and modern…i think the pleasure of creating something with your hands is amazing…and if you can get press or people talking about it it’s so much rewarding…there are so many creative mind and hands that have hard time to bloom out…
with love from the world

I LOVE! I love ceramics and I love these photos!! Looks so peaceful to be so immersed in crafting something with your bare hands.
Such a great work!
I do recognize myself in this story. After years working for the fashion industry I felt the need to finally make something with my own hands. So I launched my own brand of design & handmade product, Happy Coincidence, two years ago. So far this journey has been so rewarding, and I am sure the best is yet to come!
Come have a look at my collection: http://www.happy-coincidence.com

The simple beauty of hand work. I get the same feeling when painting! Thanks for sharing.
I’ve always wanted to do ceramics!

The ceramics are beautiful and so is her ring – could you tell us where it’s from?
Amazing. These pictures are soothing to me- I’ve always thought sitting over a pottery wheel with my hands molding clay would be like a form of meditation- I would love to try it sometime! Way to go Amanda for following her childhood dream :)

“Amanda Shine fait quelque choses devenu très rare de nos jours… elle crée des choses de ses mains”… Euh je sais pas bien dans quel monde vous vivez, mais mon boulanger et mon boucher charcutier, et même mon garagiste, font ça tous les jours, créer des trucs avec leurs mains…
It’s beautiful :) I adore handmade stuff.
