New Year’s Eve
9 years ago by
Are you ready for the holidays?
We all have a kind of love/hate relationship with New Year’s Eve parties, but that doesn’t stop us from thinking about them every time the 31st rolls around — a lot of my friends play it super cool on that night, not wanting to repeat any disaster parties of the past (we’ve all had at least one) so they prefer to just stay at home.
But personally, I like the people who get really into it and, well, even if this New Year’s is probably just going to be margaritas on the beach in Costa Rica for me… if I’d stayed in New York, I would have liked to dress up but with something a little bit different.
That’s what we wanted to show you with this series, which we shot with the amazing Mirabelle Marden. They’re easy looks, mostly black, which you can wear outside of New Years Eve. It’s a different attitude (sneakers – why not!?) — a way to take things less seriously, have fun, bend the rules a little bit, not worry too much, and be yourself.
Hey, that almost sounds like a good resolution!
I say it’s a perfect way to start the new year.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING WITH A ROYAL TWIST
Love the first image…..i can just say that New Year has such a stress attached to…
that i think that even if it didn’t started as a great evening ..we can always start again with the Chinese New Years later …or another culture New Year….it put less stress and maybe we are going to enjoy more..

HOw is wearing sneakers bending the rules? They are ubiquitous. But frequently unsuitable.
Great outfits and photos! The one with sneakers and gofre skirt looks especially artsy. Other ones look simply luxurious.

Great inspiration. Like all the others I love the first pic especially. Maybe, because new years eve is always connected with staying outside for a while and looking to the firworks. It works best for that …
Dommage.
Love the first picture x

Love the styling!!! The details bring that special New-Year’s-Eve feel to it – the crystal bag, the feathers, the lace! I think it’s important to dress up that night no matter where you are – it’s just something that says “hey, I’ll celebrate everything I’ve achieved during this past 365 days and welcome the new that’s coming” :)

These looks are beautiful. I love the black lace dress!
I am really loving that color of blue with the black, and especially with the lace. Very elegant and sexy!
What a beautiful editorial! I used to love NY Eve- in Poland its one of the biggest event of the year. I used to go to big parties with band playing, lots of food and dancing till 7am. Women would get dressed up in ball gowns and have their hair done. In London everyone does NYE party rather casually. I miss the build up to the party, the dressed, the band and the dancing (I miss that the most). A few years ago I flew to Warsaw for a party in Hotel Bristol. Men wore tuxedos and women wore ball gowns. I wore Chloe dress (the one that Daria wore n the catwalk). We were the last to leave the dance floor at about 6am :) I would love to repeat it…

I love these shots! I have the same feeling about this New Yea’s Ev, I’d like to dess up and go somewhere nice. Last one was odinary, for this one I want something sparkling. :)
Love the blue and black together!
I LOVE THESE LOOKS!
Très jolis looks, j’adore la 1ère proposition.
Great idea : a bit of whimsy in your New Year’s Eve outfit. That’s definitely what I’m gonna wear as well. Still hesitating between two of my creations :
– this bat wing sequinned dress http://www.cheyma.com/product/brillant-lbd-brillante-petite-robe-noire for a classy look but still super comfy, with high black heels or
– this sweater http://www.cheyma.com/product/whimsical-sequined-sweater-sweatshirt-fantaisie-a-sequins paired up with your above-mentioned sneakers (white!) and black leather leggings!
Can’t make up my mind, but can’t wait either :)

I love the cool elements like the sneakers, feather fringe jacket, & the faux fur coat. These details jazz up the black ensemble without being overwhelming. :] // ? itsCarmen.com ?
Great to have a model with salt – a woman’s woman. :).

Nice pix of the woman on the corner! That is the stuff we love to see! :-)
New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day are always sultry and sun-drenched in Perth, Western Australia (32 degrees Celsius usually), and everything is closed or closing early – except for hotels, a few restaurants and most of the pubs!
So, it’s always super-casual for us (since we stay at home – kids are too young to leave at home and we are now too old – wiser?- to go partying wildly)- shorts, bathers, sun-hats, and in the evening – lightweight cotton or silk tops with shorts (again), billowy harem pants or long skirts.
The only formal thing we wear is maybe some jewellery (if we are not swimming in the ocean that evening with family and friends). New Year’s Day is the same: plus, being my birthday, it’s a brilliant excuse to wear comfy all over again. And always, bare feet or slippers for those two days!
How nice is the summer weather over the holidays?! I’m from Sydney, so I know what it’s like to wear a more lightweight, casual look for NYE…
Also, happy birthday from all of us at the Studio!

Hello Neada! Thank you so much, dearest fellow-Aussie, for taking the time to reply, and for your birthday wishes. I never expected that! So, it is such a gorgeous surprise – like an early Christmas and birthday present all rolled into one joyous bundle.
Wishing you and all your Studio colleagues a love-filled Christmas, followed by New Year celebrations that strengthen and inspire you for the coming year, and affirm how cherished each of you is, in every way.

Love the looks but have to say… I am SO fed up with the bulky white sneaker trend. Aren’t there so many more creative alternatives that would also look like you’re not switching shoes once you arrive at the party?
Each one of these is fantastic but I most adore the Jumpsuit. So elegant. Zara? Even better. I just purchased. Thank you! Enjoy Costa Rica. We will be vacationing there with our sons in March. Let us know your favorite places/things to do. We definitely will be surfing. Happy Holidays!
