Corinne, The Electric Lady

My friend Corinne Bailey Rae was recently in New York , spending a lot of time at Electric Lady Studios — where I had the chance to go hang out with her.
I’m so in love with Corinne. Not only does she have an amazing talent and personality, but she’s also the sweetest and most elegant person. She has great style every day. She still lives in Leeds, in the North of England, so being able to have her around for a couple of weeks was a real treat. And being able to hear a few of her new songs was just an amazing experience.
I don’t know if you’ve heard of Electric Lady Studios. It was once home to Jimi Hendrix. Electric Lady is unique. It’s one of the most iconic recording venues in the country and you feel comfortable as soon as you step inside (must be why so many singers love to record here!). The ambience is moody, a little dark, full of spirit and makes you feel instantly inspired.

I love Corinne’s music – one of her albums always reminds me of the summer before I fell in love with my husband, which was sad and long but sweeter for her songs. I saw her in person that same summer, and she is as elegant as you say. I love these pictures and all they capture. Thank you for sharing!

Très belles photos !! Ma fille a enregistré son album au studio Avatar, dans le quartier de Hell’s Kitchen, tu connais ? C’est là bas que Paul Mc Carthney entre autres, enregistre. C’est toujours magique, l’atmosphère des studios, il y a de bonnes ondes (ah ah bonjour le jeu de mots !).
