Hey Kids!

I can’t tell how many times I’ve watched this video since we finished editing.
The shoot happened the day of the opening of the Bonpoint Store, in Soho. We had built a white seamless and asked 13 kids to come play in front of the camera.
Usually, I don’t direct too much – my videos are more like mini reportages. I did it for the first time for Whistles, where I was telling the models exactly what I wanted them to do. Yes yes, I was doing all the movements with them and I was dancing with them, except behind the camera. It was exhausting but easy; they’re super talented.
But with kids, I was a bit scared.
Nah, not scared of kids (I’m a big sister, an aunt and in case I need to look for my inner authority, I’ve been a supervisor in a “sensitive” high school when I was a student) but worried I wouldn’t be able to direct them.
I was forgetting how much kids love a camera. Just putting them in front of it was enough – they would start having fun and showing us what they could do (hoola hoop with 5 hoolas anyone?). For the ones who where shy, just letting them play with other kids and they’d totally forget the camera. And whenever we didn’t know what to do, I would throw confetti. Worked every
time :)
I still was exhausted by the end, but super happy.
I love the video, so I wanted to share it. It’s fun, simple, and we don’t talk about kids enough around here – and they have a few things to teach us about fashion and attitude ;)

Je rêve ou les cerceaux sont recouverts de Liberty ? mouahhh I love Bonpoint.. Super vidéo, ça m’a rappelé le spectacle de fin d’année des enfants de l’école samedi dernier et le naturel confondant des petites sections de 4 ans super concentrés mais pas du tout trouillards devant la marée de parents qui pourtant les filmait. Et j’ai remarqué un truc, tous les enfants se tiennent droit :-)

Ah oui c’est dommage ça se voit que tu as eu du mal avec eux pourtant les enfants sont les meilleurs en créativité et improvisation, pas besoin de les diriger justement ils sont doués naturellement. Alors qu’ avec Whistles je n’aurais jamais pensé que tu montrais aux modèles tous les mouvements. Allez Garance va falloir que tu passes un peu plus de temps avec tes neveux! : )

Ma main à parier qu’une des filles s’appelait Thémis et son petit-frère Ulysse? :-)
Je sais, une vidéo aussi belle devrait me donner envie d’avoir des enfants, mais je suis ce que je suis. elle me donne envie 1) de retomber en enfance pour qu’on me jette des confettis, à moi aussi 2) de trouver la même collection pour adultes. Surtout la combi smockée à fleurs, là, je meurs. A défaut, je vais de ce pas chercher mes cerceaux, et je garde mon portable des fois que ça se finisse en lumbago.

J’ai une question concernant tes illustrations (que j’adoooooorrree !!) : comment les intègres-tu à ton blog ? parce que clairement tu ne les scannes pas ni ne les prends en photo, utilises-tu une tablette graphique ? le rendu est vraiment super, propre et élégant !
Je sais que tes lectrices(eurs) te posent beaucoup de questions et que tu ne peux pas répondre à tous, mais si des personnes par le passé ont déjà posé ma question, ce sera vraiment super que tu écrives juste 1 ligne pas plus à ce sujet :)

Brave woman! That’s an entire FLEET of children. A great group of models, but you obviously have the touch. Love the track you guys used on this.

Fantastic video! Made me want a be a kid again! Thought of my niece and my son!! They would have loved to play there too. The clothes is beautiful as always! I had some stuff from Bonpiont myself growing up in the 80’s. I would love to be able to fit in so many of their pieces now… Too bad I grew up i guess :)

Ho ! Tu as été surveillante dans un collège ? Je suis surveillante dans une école primaire en ce moment :) ça me remonte un peu le moral de savoir ça. Même si en ce moment je galère pas mal à essayer de trouver quoi faire de ma vie, je me dis qu’un jour je trouverai peut-être, j’arrêterai d’être surveillante et je passerai à autre chose, dans un domaine ou je pourrai m’épanouir.
