Mccallan, our model friend, stopped by the studio right after the Prabal show (Yes, in case you didn’t notice – Living under a rock much? Lucky you. -it’s fashion week here in New York) to give us an up close look at the necklace she wore for the show.
It’s funny how the way we wear jewelry has changed in the last few years – designers have become super inventive, sometimes for the not-so-good (not a fan of the hand bracelet or the giant earcuff that looks like Lady Gaga’s closet just exploded in your ear) and sometimes for the best (knuckle rings! Moderate earcuffs!).
I feel like everyday a new jeweltitude pops up and I do love that.
So here, it’s a pretty simple statement from the front and side, but I love how it bold it looks from the back. It is almost enough to make me want long hair again….

Le bijou investit de nouvelles parties du corps, comme pour les réhabiliter, dire ça aussi ça mérite d’être mis en valeur et c’est passionnant car ça démultiplie les champs du possible ! Ici c’est le collier de chien, ça fait référence à plein de trucs.
Je ne suis pas fan non plus des envahissements parasitaires des oreilles, ou du camouflage des bras façon armure avec des tonnes de bracelets, et j’ai un problème avec l’anti- pratique, du style devoir retirer une bague bracelet 10 fois par jour pour se laver les mains, mais je craque complètement pour les discrets anneaux qui se clipsent sur l’oreille pour le transformer en coquillage, les boucles du type piercing qui ornent l’avant et l’arrière du lobe, et les bagues de phalange qui dessinent graphiquement la main.

To me, the clasp on a necklace is just as important as the part that is meant to be worn in front. My favorite necklace, given to me by my husband, has a little pearl hanging from the clasp. I love this necklace. Could she also wear it the other way around? I seems like it would look fabulous either way.
Oh, but wait, does the back part hold her hair like a barrette? Still I like it!
Argh, personne ne comprendrait si je portais ça et ma conversation se résumerait à expliquer ce que c’est etc… Du coup ça me prendrait beaucoup de temps de vie.
Oula, j’ai des goûts beaucoup plus classiques en matière de bijoux. Même les bagues phalanges j’ai du mal, mais jolie photo du reste.

Personnellement je suis plutôt tradi question bijoux, même si je trouve magnifique de pouvoir toujours réinventer la joaillerie, étant donné qu’on les porte plus ou moins au mêmes endroits depuis de millénaires.
MAIS, pour qu’un bijoux vaille la peine, il doit pouvoir être porté. Et là, sérieusement, à part durant un défilé, qui a envie de se compresser le cou en enlevant son écharpe ou autre ?
Même si de dos je trouve ce collier original et audacieux, la première chose qui me vient à l’idée c’est DANGER / STRANGULATION / POURQUOI ??
Sinon je suis très relax ;)

I do like bold pieces, but this one isn’t really appealing to me. Then again, the jewelry I feel like wearing changes from day to day. Sometimes it’s simple and ladylike, sometimes it’s bold and rock n roll. But that’s the fun of being female, n’est-ce pas? :)

En regardant les photos, je me demande si le collier n’appuierait pas un peu sur le cou ? La fermeture, à l’arrière, à l’air assez lourde, du coup on dirait que ça “tire” sur le collier ?

I love jewelry,most especially vintage cuffs. I however find myself wearing very little. Stud earrings in addition to a small diamond stud in my left(second piercing) ear. I rarely change.

Garance, do you want longer hair again? Have you started growing your hair out? Do you miss being able to do more things with your hair? Interesting necklace, would you wear it? I think it would great with short hair, or hair worn off the neck, very versatile.
It looks nice but it also looks uncomfortable. I like the shape of the jewelry, it’s very graceful, and the horn thingy at the back is unexpected.

Je le porterais dans l’autre sens, cest un peu trop design pour moi
Je travaille dans la joaillerie et j’aime bien l’évolution constante de ce secteur. Il y a des choses étonnantes, tout n’est pas tjr réussis mais je trouve ça chouette de faire évoluer la parure, sa façon de la porter et de la concevoir. Le collier de la photo est ainsi très intéressant.

I like silver and I hope the designer keeps going with his/her work, but this piece is trying too hard. It flows backward when the motion of the world is forward. It’s unnatural, distracting.
I like the look of it, especially from the back, but – as some wrote already – it looks quite uncomfortable to wear. Wouldn’t it make you feel sick, havong something pressing on your neck at that point? But well, I’m perhaps a bit too practical :)
I totally agree! Every time I turn around there is a new jewelry designer, but it is pretty amazing I have to say. The creativity is incredible. All these little “adore-nations” (yes i made up that word) and creations put on chains, rings and bangles is fantastic! And of course there are those who miss the mark, as always or other companies that just replicate genius of others, providing cheap variations -sigh’. Overall though I think there has been positive, no?
