What lipstick?

10 years ago by

Pourquoi? Pourquoi?

  • Ok maybe of you wear it under lipstick but if you wear benetint alone and you forget that you have it on, it leaves some stains on your lips! Not classy;)

  • That’s exactly why one of my priorities when buying lipstick is that they evenly fades of the lips! Otherwise I’m way too self concious when wearing brighter shades.

  • I love this product!!

  • So recognizable! Need to try this product! xx

  • This is s a great tip, lip-stick is always a problem because we can’t look to the mirror every time!

    Bises Alex !

  • I have tried Benetint more than once—literally, purchased it several years in between thinking I must have dreamed it—and it never works for me. It always goes on completely patchy. I have a friend who it looks amazing on. Alas.

  • I always have this problem! And I love bright lipsticks so it’s really annoying. I think Benetint is an absolute classic beauty buy but usually wear it on my cheeks so I’ll try it on lips again.

Benetint is a classic! Did you ever hear that it was created in order to help drag queens brighten the color of their nipples? Perhaps that is just urban myth, but it’s a good story! :-)

  • what a fantastic product !
thank you ! will try it

I always use those tinted stones that you buy in Moroccan souks for like 1$ . You lick your index and then rub it on the stone and it goes bright fuxia, then you transfer to your lips…perfection …and tint lasts for hours.

So happy you told me about Benetint. Now I won’t have to shlep my stone around the place

  • The Benefit Lip and cheek tint – one of my ALLL TIME favourite beauty products.
I use it more for cheek colour – such a natural effect, but makes a huge difference to a nude face.
I love that its so similar to some of the original beauty products from 15th Century on. Tints and stains for cheeks, eyes and lips were made from Beetroot and Berries; similar preparations were also used for dying cloth.
A TRULY GREAT PRODUCT, personally I think every girl should have this in her make up kit. B

  • I have used this on and off … which I really like. The problem is the packaging is really difficult for re-application out of home. I think they have a version that comes with gloss but that is much more expensive than this bottle :(
Hmmm. Thanks Alex for reminding me of this product. I should go replenish.

  • I love Benetint! Been using it for almost a decade and it’s still my go to lip stain!

  • That’s exactly what happens to me all the time. That is why lip gloss are not for me and lip tints are my go-to lip layer, though I still haven’t use any Benefit products, maybe I should because I’m hearing a lot of good reviews.

  • I love Benetint and have been using it for 15 years.

For a similar effect in a pot, look at Josie Maran’s cheek tint with coconut water. It is a small, portable pot, and the product is in gel form. You can use it on lips and cheeks, and she makes several colors. It stains like no other.

  • I want to know more about Brie’s fleeced lined pants. Really. Please.

  • There’s sooo much hype about this one… Great on the cheeks, yes. But it’s very drying on the lips and does not last (sigh), which is a real pitty ‘cuz the color is great. I wear red lipstick all the time (and eat, drink coffee (a lot of coffee) and smoke). The only way for me to make it last is to wear lip pencil underneath and choose the right lipstick ofcourse :) MAC Russian Red (and Ruby Woo, but not all MAC lipsticks are the same!) and Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet are the only ones that never disappoint.

  • But…the taste is so bitter! I only use it on my cheeks.

  • I cut my hair last year and went from long dark hair to short platinum blonde, so i had to rethink my makeup and bold red lipstick became one of my favourites. Unfortunately i had to rwapply like a hubdred times a day to avoid that red line that remained on my lips after wating and drinking. You praised bentint so much that i went and bought it. It’s awesome! I put it on my cheeks and on the lips and it’s just perfect. It took some time getting used to the taste, but if you apply lipstick on top it’s much better. Thanks for a great find!

  • I use a cheaper version, lip tint Perfect Stay from Astor. Beautiful palete of colours, nice smell and lasting is surprisingly great :) I use Mexican Pink or Cotton Pink, both really cute. I didin’t notice any drying action, and there’s also a nourishing balm on the other side so that you can add a little glow (really good also on its own).

  • I discovered the Holly Graal of red lipsticks about an year ago, and it’s name is Novalip DUO from La Roche-Posay. It lasts up to 5 office hours (drinking coffee, eating, etc) and it fades out evenly from the lips. It also has a hidrating core, which means that it NEVER dried my lips. I even wear it when it’s -10 C outside, it’s that hidrating!

  • I also love Benetint! I have the Pocket Pal Lip and Cheek Stain. it has Benetint on one side and clear gloss on the other. so you have the option of matt or glossy lips. genius!

but, the absolute most indestructible lipstick is Stila’s Liquid Lipstick. I have it in a gorgeous purple
(http://madeausynot.blogspot.com/2013/11/that-lipstick.html) and a deep red (http://madeausynot.blogspot.com/2013/11/fiery.html) …..and I will for sure buy more colors.

  • I really understand you, Alex. I always forget. I even forgot to retouch my make up on my wedding day. Reeeeaaaaally nice wedding pictures as you can imagine. I guess I get caught in what I’m doing and forget about my make up. But I do use Posietint by Benefit because it looks more natural on me.

  • Another pretty cool product is Lipcote. It’s a British beauty must-have; I picked up mine while in Scotland. You apply a generous coating to bare lips, allow it to dry and then apply your lipstick. It does smell a little bit unpleasant but the smell goes away once it’s dry. Keeps your lipstick going all day; most definitely through lunch and coffee.
