La faute à Mercure…

…Parce qu’elle rétrogade…
J’avoue, je mets tous mes ennuis sur le dos de Mercure. « Mais bon, tu comprends, Mercure est en phase de rétrogradation. » Et autour de moi, tout le monde hoche la tête d’un air entendu, comme s’il était logique que mes problèmes d’e-mail soient imputables au mauvais alignement des planètes. « Mais oui, oui, mais carrément !!! »
PARDON ? Mais qu’est-ce que c’est que ce truc?
Comme toute femme qui cherche une réponse, J’ai googlisé.
Susan Miller (grande prêtresse de l’astrologie, un peu notre Elizabeth Teissier) dit : Mercure est une planète qui gouverne tout ce qui a trait aux transports et à la communication. Mercure n’est pas sentimentale, c’est plutôt une planète objective. Elle régit l’intelligence, l’éducation et la vérité. En phase de rétrogradation, certains de ses pouvoirs sont bridés.
Lorsque Mercure semble décrire une courbe inverse, on commence à en sentir les effets des jours, voire 2 semaines plus tôt. Lorsque la planète reprend sa trajectoire normale, qu’elle redevient stationnaire et qu’elle avance à nouveau, les événements reprennent leur cours.
D’accord.
Et là, Susan répertorie toutes les choses qui sont susceptibles de se produire lorsque Mercure rétrograde, comme par exemple : se faire larguer, se faire rater sa coupe chez le coiffeur, acheter une voiture pourrie, se retrouver avec un évier bouché, retrouver ses parents biologiques alors qu’on est adopté, se retrouver avec une boîte mail en panne, etc.
Les choses tombent en panne, quoi. ON PEUT TOUT METTRE SUR LE DOS DE MERCURE QUAND ELLE RETROGRADE. Du coup, j’ai fait une liste d’événements que j’impute intégralement à Mercure… et je me sens beaucoup mieux.
1. La fois où, en Italie, j’ai envoyé un carton de Vogue français depuis l’Italie vers le Minnesota. Pendant des mois, on a perdu leur trace. Et un jour, ils sont arrivés. La faute à Mercure.
2. La fois où je me suis fait un ombré hair. Mercure en rétrograde.
3. La fois où j’ai pleuré en rencontrant Josh Hartnett. Encore Mercure.
4. La fois où je me suis cassé un orteil et où j’ai dû porter une attelle à Velcro, ça tombait pile le jour où je devais aller en backstage du défilé Victoria Secret. Jamais je ne me suis sentie aussi humiliée de ma vie, non, mais imaginez un peu, moi à côté d’Adriana Lima… en botte de ski attelle à Velcro. Mercure avait encore frappé.
5. La fois où j’ai voulu acheter des billets pour aller au concert de Britney et que tout a été vendu en 7 mn chrono, j’ai pleuré toute la journée. Encore un coup de Mercure.
6. A chaque fois que j’ai du rouge à lèvres sur les dents. Mercure, je vous dis.
Et vous, vous en pensez quoi de Mercure ? Tout ça, c’est à cause d’elle ?

I didn’t want to believe this Mercury nonsense at first (and still, I kind of don’t want to, but as you say, it’s easy to place the blame on something else). So yes! Damn you Mercury for the bad mark on my essay and the exploding hairspray can.

It’s fun to say and sure let’s blame it on Mercury, but remember it is truly nonsense!
I’m all for using humor to relieve anxiety & tension, but astrology, pffft. Total nonsense.

Thanks Alex – this gave me a good laugh on a day I needed it! And I think I will start to blame Mercury in retrograde more often. It’s better than beating one’s self up when you’re just having a day when the pieces aren’t falling into place as planned.

Haha, too funny! I was just blaming Mercury’s retrograde for all my problems these past few days. I’ve had a ton of miscommunications because I just haven’t been able to explain myself or my intentions well.
Totally blaming Mercury at the moment.

i have tried to ignore mercury retrograde but you ignore at your own peril! It is the one thing I adhere to.
i also never plan trip or travel during mercury because plans always get scuppered and things get cancelled! its been ten years since i follow it and it just makes sense. doing something in mercury is like deciding to go on a boat trip at night during a storm. you can do it but just isn’t wise…

I don’t think it can blame ANYTHING on Mercury being in retrograde, but it’s good to have that excuse! I did have my chart done once and it was surprisingly accurate. I do remember that Mercury is one of my most influential planets, but don’t remember the details. Ever since I got that chart, though, I do believe more in astrology.

oh astrology! i can totally blame all the stupid bullshit going on on the the stars! i don’t really believe in astrology, but i do have my own set of personal superstitions.
the biggest one is related to the full moon – if there’s a full moon weird shit happens, both good and bad and i have trouble sleeping. it’s rooted in old romanian foldklore and oodly enough is pretty much true.or we make it sound so.

It’s totally true — it’s not that I really exactly believe in it (do any of us?) but whenever momentum on something stops, things get bungled, or nothing seems to go as planned it is almost always Mercury in retrograde. What ruffles me is that there’s nothing to do but wait it out. Just sit back and wait the 3 weeks or whatever that it is doing its thing and then almost as miraculously as things started to go awry they instead start to go right and fall into place. Like a cloud being lifted. The only thing good about Mercury being in retrograde is that it will end and life will go back to normal.

Mercure rétrograde, c’est bon pour les géocentristes. Tu es bien trop moderne pour ça! Y’a surement un bouc émissaire plus proche sur lequel on peut taper en plus!!!

hahaha, ben ça doit être des références de NY car sincèrement je croyais que tu parlais du mercure (dans le thermomètre quoi, de la température donc). Et l’influence des planètes pour déresponsabiliser les êtres humains, c’est super pratique !!
I’ve had entire relationships I’d like to blame on Mercury in retrograde. Maybe I should email Susan and see if there was one that lasted from 2005 to 2011
