J’adore, non mais j’adore tellement le côté cool et ironique qu’une casquette peut apporter à un tenue (et même les tenues les plus sophistiquées) que j’en ai secrètement acheté deux, qui attendent sagement leur heure de gloire.
Le seul truc c’est que je n’ose pas trop. C’est beau sur une mannequin (en photo, Bette Franke après le défilé Hermès) mais bon, sur moi, ça ferait pas trop « fille qui meurt tellement d’envie d’être cool qu’elle en est pathétique ? »
Je ne sais pas…
Bon en même temps, je masterisais ce style que les fashionistas étaient encore dans le ventre de leur maman (ce qui n’est pas forcément une bonne information à divulguer, mais que voulez-vous, je suis née dans les années 80, c’est comme ça…)(comment ça je ne suis pas née dans les années 80?) non mais regardez moi cette trendsetteuse de folaï, franchement je devrais ouvrir un blog ou quelque chose comme ça.
Bon enfin. Maintenant que le style à été vu sur toutes les streetstylistas (oooooh le mot immonde que je viens d’inventer!!!) (mais tellement immonde !) (mais tellement vrai !) de la création pendant la fashion week, n’est il pas trop tard ?

A chaque fois que j’en vois ces dernières semaines sur des jolies filles bien habillées, je trouve ça infiniment cool, mais j’en essaie beaucoup en ce moment et à chaque fois je finis par me dire « Pfff, mais ma pauvre fille, c’est exactement comme si tu te baladais la journée avec un skate sous le bras alors que tu ne sais pas faire de skate : ridicule ».

La casquette c’est une attitude car ça va à tout le monde, mais il faut l’assumer. Moi je l’estime tellement et j’ai de telles ambitions à avoir une tête à casquette qu’au final je trouve que j’ai pas une tête à casquette, bonnets et chapeaux oui, mais pas casquette.

Oui pour la casquette! mais je pense que le mieux est… sans talons aiguilles (ou alors bottines) et quand le soleil est la. Sinon je pense que ca enleverait la cooolitude de la casquette et ferait un peu trop « travaillé ». personnellement je n’oserais pas en porter mais j’adorerai..!

Je dis oui à la casquette ! Et sans trop y penser. Depuis que j’ai commencé je n’ai jamais cessé d’en porter. Pas tous les jours loin s’en faut, j’AVOUE c’est ça ou être mouillée aussi parfois… mais j’aime et j’assume pleinement cette touche décalée et je me rends compte grâce à vous que je ne me suis jamais posé de question quant à cet accessoire alors que je gamberge sur d’autres.

My thoughts exaztly! This is not a new trend at all!! But now all the fashion people are mixing it with their expensive outfits. I have always had a love for caps and have worn them for years as have a lot of other girls.
The cap is looking great on Bette, but for me it wouldn’t work.

Casquette! J’en ai prise une pour mon frère cet été chez Supreme, en velours d’un beau bleu avec l’inscription en rouge. Après l’avoir essayé de retour en France, j’ai amèrement regretté de ne pas en avoir acheté une aussi pour moi… Et pour le côté « je me force à être cool/je suis pathétique si je porte une casquette », j’ai envie de dire qu’on peut dire ça de pas mal de pièces qui peuvent facilement tomber dans le déguisement, de type lunettes de soleil lorsqu’il n’y pas de soleil, lunettes miroir, teddys ..donc bon, osef et fous ta casquette!

I think women look very beautiful and hot in caps. Caps add a sporty, rebellious, daring, clashing, cool, and playful quality to the girls that wear them. Caps are not just for the boys anymore.

I can’t remember which magazine has « buy, save or store » but I would definitely « store » the hat for now but that’s just me (I also wouldn’t wear a Kenzo sweatshirt at the moment as much as I think they are fun) Get a knit watch cap with a « logo » instead. Or a Yankee T shirt… Or design your own embroidered logo for a hat–you are SO talented and everyone would want one!

Mais tu étais très lumineuse et égale à toi même (dans le bons sens du terme hein) et ça faisait quand même plaisir de te voir là. Bonne continuation pour tes projets à venir…

J’aime beaucoup le ton du post et pour moi, la casquette reste pour le green.. et ce sera tout ! Pour le bitume, il faut être jeune et stylée… donc, tu peux te lancer !

Yes, cap. I keep a black military cap for those days that I just want to be surprising. Every time I pull it out, I can see my husband melt a little more and smile a little bigger. There is something endearing about a pretty girl in a cap. I think it’s the image of down-home, big-heartedness that so many truly desire.

It keeps the sun off my head, the rain out of my eyes, etc. Plus, I often get compliments on the look. They remind me of ponytails. Similarly, I wear my hair in a ponytail for « work » to keep my long hair out of my way. So, anytime I see someone with a ball cap and/or a ponytail, it screams « practical and cute » to me but not necessarily « fashionable. »

CAP ON YOU….YES. In your photo, it looks cute, functional and believable.
On the other person, as beautiful and matching in color, it looks forced. I think caps when they are functional…hold hair back, shield eyes, and in a casual situation are appropriate and cool.
When they are worn with dressier pieces they just look like the person is trying to hard.

I say nay to the cap unless you’re going for a run…it’s too pretentious and screams ‘look at me’ which everyone will be, so if you’re not comfortable being looked at and inevitably summed-up…avoid.

Moi, je dis casquette ! Evidemment, puisque j’en acheté une l’année dernière de la collection automne hiver 2011 de Miu Miu. C’est super pour casser le côté girly d’une jupe ou pour rendre plus décontractée une petite robe. Avec un pantalon, à éviter, cependant (enfin, en matière de mode, on ne peut jamais vraiment théoriser…).
Si tu avs faire un tour sur theoutnet.com, tu trouveras deux modèles de la collec’ Miu Miu de l’hiver dernier.
Je me suis acheté l’hiver dernier également une casquette plate chez Burberry Prorsum, faite dans une maille de cachemire gris chiné.
L’hiver dernier était vraiment celui des casquettes chez certains créateurs, mais je n’ai pas osé beaucoup porter les miennes. La tendance ne s’était pas encore vraiment implantée. C’est bête, quand j’y pense. Souvent, on ne se sent à l’aise avec un type de vêtement ou d’accessoire qu’une fois qu’il a été validé par le plus grand nombre.
Je trouve que le chapeau te va très bien en général. Et la casquette te sied à merveille sur la photo. A ta place, je la porterais un poil plus enfoncée sur la tête, et avec des talons, sachant que la casquette a pour rôle de cooliser une tenue plus sophistiquée.
En fait, je suis une fan des couvre-chefs. C’est dommage que l’on ne voie pas davantage de jeunes femmes en porter. J’ai deux chapeaux-cloche de la collection Garden Girls de chez Burberry Porsum, et je les porte presqu’à chaque fois qu’il pleut. Ils se marient à presque tout.
Ah oui, une dernière chose : tu étais magnifiquement coiffée pour ton apparition au Grand Journal. Totalement parisienne, avec ton rouge sur les lèvres (les deux intermèdes à l’humour scato-potache de l’émission m’ont en revanche carrément tapé sur les nerfs. De toute façon, je ne regarde presque plus la tv. Je me suis connectée sur la redif uniquement pour ton passage avec Karl Lagerfeld).
Tu devrais faire plus souvent des chignons bas et porter les cheveux lâchés aussi. Je trouve cela plus sexy que les crotillons sur le dessus de la tête. Les queues de cheval toutes lisses te vont bien aussi. C’est élégant. Et en voilà une coiffure à porter avec une casquette !

You should definitely rock the baseball cap. I don’t consider it in or out of fashion. It is a classic item that can also serve a purpose. I have my prized collection of baseball caps – at least 20 of them. I wear them at the beach, on vacation in the Caribbean and when working out.

I like caps on kids. Caps look worse on men more then women. If you are doing something sportyish like running or walking the dog they are ok. But there are always exceptions to those few who look great no matter what. Love the pictures above!

Caps are classic, I know if Coco was alive would agree on that. Caps can hide puffy eyes, make your outfit hot and splash some humor on a serious outfit that otherwise would be conservative. I would have hundreds of them if my boyfriend, daughter and friends wouldn’t steal them!
Consider the casualness of a cap how it dresses down velvet and silk, how if wore with the right sunglasses is deadly sexy. Not everyday or at all times… but maybe once a month do the cap thing.

A fedora suits the work of your irony better than a cap. Your instinctive sense of irony defeats the cap every time. Look at that model in the cap. It works because there is no irony in her look. Which is to say she is wearing dark glasses which conceal her expression. I think caps work best when your eyes are covered. Unlike hats.
I am glad you posted this…I love caps and always found them perfect to dress down any pretentious outfit..lol. Heck..you can even wear it with a tutu ;-)
I think that one is either a cap person or they’re not. If one is a cap person, regardless of they’re in or out, one will never appear « so desparate to look cool that she’s pathetic » — it’s not possible. You do hats well, so I think you can definitely pull it off!

I think that with all hats, and indeed extreme fashion, you should only wear something that you are really comfortable in. If you have to ask the question, the answer is probably no. Caps are so everywhere that I’m not sure they are interesting just now, nor that the shape is the best hat shape for you. If you love, love, love it & can wear one without thinking about it all day, then maybe. Also it’s not a good idea to try & look cute in a youth garment over the age of 20; functional yes, stylish yes but cute no. I remember the Colette story Cheri when Lea put on her much younger lover’s kepi at a rakish angle & winks & he sees her for the first time as old, rather than sophisticated. Some garments have a very young danger point-ankle socks, bows in the hair. There are so many beautiful, elegant, interesting things for grown up women to wear…..

To be honest I find this whole thing rather laughable. A cap is something that has been around for ages, and now all of a sudden the fashionistas decides that it is ‘in fashion’.. come on!!! Look at the hip hop girls or skater girls (and a lot young females and males in general) they never stopped rocking them. It’s when it becomes a talking subject like this it becomes silly and it looks like I’m trying to hard to look cool and ‘street’. If you want to wear a cap wear a cap because you like it, not because it’s in fashion. To me that is the difference between individual style and those who are fashion slaves.

I think you look far cooler in the cap than this admittedly very pretty model. To work the cool of a cap it needs to have a feeling of authenticity and this is directly connected to the appearance and attitude of the woman wearing it. Objectively speaking, a model will look good in anything. But the good news for non-models is that women with less ‘L’Oreal spokeswoman’ looks is that clothing and accessories that fall into categories other than traditionally feminine/mainstream pretty/sexy – such as tomboy-esque threads, masculine cuts, super eclectic ensembles and ‘tough’ jewellry, is going to look better on you than a cook cutter model. More authentic. Natural. If I saw that model walking down the street I would think: ‘Hey, what a lovely looking model. I want her jacket. And metabolism.’ And I would think she had come from a show or shoot and the stylist let her keep the cap. In other words, it looks a bit like she’s playing dress up. If I saw you on the street, an attractive, chic woman, rocking her indvidual brand of beauty, I would think: ‘Cap, trench, trainers. What a cool, understated trio. Hmm, I’m kinda thirsty, I wonder where she got that iced tea?’
Sur moi surtout pas mais sur cette photo c’est parfait; il faut dire que la fille est belle, la photo est belle, et enfin la casquette se relie au reste de la tenue par ses couleurs, donc même s’il y a un mélange classe + cool, tout va bien ensemble.

Caps… sometimes not a good look but if you live in Auckland (New Zealand) like me and want to go for a walk and not come home with a sun burnt nose then caps are necessary. Please wear your cap with the peak on straight, not to one side – yuck!

I think sometimes it depends on the kind of cap and the person whether or not the whole look will work. I love wearing some of my boyfriend’s stuff, but not all of his caps suit me. His Obey five panel works on me, but not his snapbacks, according to him. I’ll take his word for it. He’s like my very own Scott!:)

I am definitely not going to follow that trend. I get the effect that people try to achieve by the contradiction between a rather sophisticated outfit and a cap. But in my eyes it just doesn’t work. It’s the opposite of effortless it just looks like trying-to-hard to be cool.

No cap if you try to find the right outfit just to put on the cap and trying to look totally casual. So, maybe, when it’s more sporty. Like on days when you what to get some coffee and croissants (I don’t know if you do things like that), jumping on your bike (do you even have one?), wearing a simple shirt, your sunglasses, your favorite or even Scott’s jeans you wore at this show – with filigree ballerinas and your favorite clutch!
It doesn’t always have to be a leather skirt, only to proof, who crazy you are breaking fashion rules, right? It would look more authentic.
