Quand on a su qu’une exposition consacrée à Rebecca était organisée à la galerie Catherine Ahnell, juste à côté du Studio, on s’est dit que c’était l’occasion idéale pour s’intéresser de plus près à la façon dont elle crée ses magnifiques aquarelles.
Quand on lui a rendu visite la première fois, elle commençait tout juste à travailler sur la série qui deviendrait Assumption, une réappropriation de l’origine du mot vierge (au départ, il concerne la liberté et l’indépendance des femmes, la connaissance qu’une femme à d’elle-même, sans connotation sexuelle du tout ! !). Avec toutes les femmes inspirantes qui l’entourent, pas étonnant que ses aquarelles sur papier journal aient donné lieu à de brillantes variations autour de cette idée… des œuvres toujours un peu inachevées, toujours intéressantes.

I love that definition of virgin. Beautiful artwork and a gorgeous artist. I love that she is posing in hot pink paints while she paints. I can’t imagine that would happen in real life!

L’association entre le débardeur / des stilettos noirs et le pantalon fuchsia criard, elle travaillant avec son oeuvre dans un espace épuré… l’image est très belle!

I love how Rebecca uses newsprint paper to add to softness of the watercolors and a work in progress look! She looks amazing in the soft blush and bright pink outfits that match her paintings! xo
