See in Black

Today is Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day in America. It’s a celebration of the emancipation of the remaining enslaved African-Americans in the Confederacy, specifically in Texas, after the Emancipation Proclamation.
To commemorate the holiday we wanted to highlight an initiative called See In Black that supports Black photographers in telling their stories, through their lens. « We are artists and archivists. We do not merely make images of Black figures, we document history that is often unrecorded with intentionality, respect, nuance, and care. We serve as a platform for Black people to stand proudly in their permanence, » See In Black Founders Joshua Kissi and Micaiah Carter.
A selection of 70+ images will available for purchase through a limited, two-week charity print sale. All prints will be produced by Artifact Uprising. Artifact Uprising also will be donating the first 1,500-quantity Large Format Prints (11×14 size) ordered to benefit the initiative.
100% of profits from the sale will support five key pillars of Black advancement: civil rights, education/arts, intersectionality, community building, and criminal justice reform.

The Bail Project
Prints for sale will be available starting on 6/19 and will end on 7/3, the day before Independence Day.
