Personnellement, l’été, pour me détendre, je trouve qu’il n’y a rien de mieux que la plage – tout autre destination me semble hors-sujet. Et contrairement à mes séjours annuels à Cape Cod un peu décontractés, ceux dans les Hamptons se distinguent par un petit degré de sophistication supplémentaire. Avec sa passion estivale pour Sag Harbor, Jessica Joffe sait exactement de quoi je parle.
A l’occasion de notre récente virée à East Hampton, on a demandé à notre amie et styliste Dianna de nous concocter quelques looks d’été qui soient à la fois décontractés et chics, en utilisant des pièces de notre partenaire THE OUTNET (qui, je le rappelle, propose une livraison le jour même dans les Hamptons jusqu’au Labor Day).
Jessica a donc étrenné ces silhouettes estivales… assez proches de son style habituel maîtrisé et nous a servi de guide dans ses endroits préférés à Sag Harbor : une librairie, la plage, une boutique de donuts, ainsi qu’une petite baraque qui sert un homard au beurre à déguster avec les doigts au bord de l’eau.
Moi, je dis oui.
This story puts me in the mood for a vacation in a sleepy beach town. I think the short clips throughout are a charming touch. You should definitely add that feature to more posts in the future.
The Valentino cotton-polyester $1,100 romper (reduced from $3,800), as well as some of the other extremely expensive items, makes me wish that someday Garance or the Atelier would do a piece on clothes and money. I ask this respectfully because I know you take up a lot of issues of personal choice and needs. You treat them candidly and seriously, which I like. I recognize that many of the clothes and accessories you show are meant to be inspirational rather than merely aspirational, and I recognize too that you balance the crazy expensive stuff with more modestly priced things. And, finally, I do understand that most of the expensive things « justify » their price by their high quality. But how do women decide how much is an appropriate amount of money to spend on clothes and accessories? What all goes into the mix? Are some things just obscenely expensive? Etc. I bet you’d do a good job with the subject.
I couldn’t agree more. Your editorial is strong, and your curation of inspiring pieces is always on point, but the prices are simply out of reach for most people. The implicit message defaults to: in order to be chic, your wardrobe has to include pieces that cost more than your rent. It would be even more inspiring to see you put together editorial including thrifted/found/vintage/off-season pieces. This is where real style can shine.
