I have been very blessed and a lot of my jewelry has either been passed to me or purchase by my parents. I have the first Rollex that my Dad ever got my Mom it’s almost as old as I am! And ironically enou my Dad gifted my husband his watch that matches mine, so now like my parents we have the matching watches that they held for years together.
My Mom also just surprised me. At Christmas with a special bracelet she bought on her own just for me, just because. It’s a new piece I’ll treasure forever.

Je viens de perdre mon amie, ma « demi » petite soeur d’une longue leucémie. Mes soeurs et moi avons récupéré ses bijoux et ma fille, sa médaille de baptême. ces bijoux auront toujours une belle histoire à raconter…

You’ve got me thinking about it now and I realize lots of my jewelry pieces have stories. One of my favorites is a gold chain from the Greek island of Kos. My uncle brought it back for me as a souvenir when he visited the island. I was 14 and waiting for a heart transplant. Every time I wore it for years he’d jokingly greet me by asking me who got it for me.

I design jewelry for a living, and I love jewelry whether or not it has a story attached, but some pieces in my (admittedly large) collection have added meaning: the tiny necklace from when I was sixteen, my father’s watches, given my by my mother after he passed, the anniversary gifts from my husband, etc. I also tend to buy jewelry as travel souvenirs, so I have tactile reminders of great vacations and experiences. All worn, all greatly loved.

All of my jewellery has a story behind it, but I love my engagement ring one the best. My husband and I looked at the ring together (when we were just ‘window shopping’), and I LOOOVED it, but I didn’t want to make a big deal about it. He went back a few days later to get the ring, and it had been sold to someone in Hong Kong. He was disappointed, but a few weeks later, happened to walk by the store and saw the ring again in the window. It was back! The lady in Hong Kong must have said NO to her proposal, so the ring was returned to the store, and made its way back to London and onto my hand! It is a very unique stone, and I’m crazy about it (and my husband).
