It doesn’t take very much to make me happy in the summer. Some sunshine, some water, and the perfect swimsuit is really all I need. Of course ‘perfect,’ when we’re talking swimsuits, can be rather elusive.

It means different things to different people, and even can mean different things to me, depending on the day. I equally appreciate the bikini and the maillot, depending on the activity and the amount of coverage I want that day. Since my legs are not particularly long, I tend to go for a high cut on the bottom to add a little length, but I stray far, miles and miles, away from anything resembling a thong (if you can rock it, more power to you). Over the years I’ve shopped swimsuits from low (Target, surprisingly, has a great selection) to high (Matteau, Jade Swim, Solid & Stripe to name a few). A long-time favorite, and the swimsuit you see in the photo, is actually from J.Crew. I almost always buy black, which to me is chic and flattering, and fits in nicely with the rest of my wardrobe.

The road to the perfect swimsuit is long and very rocky, so I stick to the classics. When I find a good one, I hold onto it for years and years. What does the perfect swimsuit mean to you?
